Where were the sprites for the Big Ship in the middle and the fireship in the right? Not in the folder?
If you have downloaded the most recent version of the mod from a few days ago, you should have them. The big one is Quinquereme, and the other should just be any version of the the fire galley line.
Spartan UU Preview
We recently completed renders and animations for new Spartan UU Hippeis. Working on SMX graphics and testing this weekend. Plan to release in upcoming update of the Mod scheduled later this month.
Original Inspiration:
wow!! x100000000000000
To add more Greek assets to the game, we have Athenian Hoplites. Excited to be adding these new units in an upcoming release. Many Thanks to our talented 3D Artist Sapsan who continues to feed our mod cool new units
Besides new unit graphics, the team has been hard at work on many aspects of the Mod.
AbeJin has been working on New Ships and Wall Graphics including Construction and Damage Frames for Greeks, Egyptians, and Barbarians. He also has started prototyping gate destruction sequences for a new Roman Fortified Gate and Towers. Very excited about being able to introduce custom walls and gates to fit the ancients civs of the Mod. I think the community will be really impressed.
@TheConqueror753 continues to lead in the Mods civ development. He has taken over the DAT development and introduced innovative new game mechanics. We believe these new features will bring our Civs to life, delivering groundbreaking Unique Techs, Bonuses, and play style. TheConqueror brings a lot of passion to Civ design and game play. Expect a full roadmap and Civ outline in the coming weeks.
The development of the mod has really accelerated in the past few months and that is a testament to the team and the passion and talents they bring to the Mod. Very excited to see what the future holds. Stay tuned!
Because there’s an update looming on the horizon for the base game, we have decided to hold off on releasing an update. Otherwise the DAT file will break when the game updates, until we manage to fix it. Instead, we will release later, and focus on packing new content into this release. This update is already full of new things, and the extra time will allow us to add even more. There have been numerous balance changes made since the last update, and I’ll let people explore these once this update is released, but we have several civs almost ready for production. With the next update, Rome at War is going to include the following civs: Athenians, Germani, Numidians, Phoenicians, a somewhat reworked Gauls, Egyptians (who have recieved so many changes and fixes they are basically a new civ), and a thematic change or two for the Roman Empire. Expect lots of cool stuff in the future, we are only waiting on unique units, and we could add any planned civ to the mod.
do u guys plan on updating the mods on the microsoft server website? or only moddb going forward?
No it won’t just be ModDB. MP will continue to be supported. I set it up because it’s integral to having the mod grow, and it will continue.
ic, i clicked the first link on OP and it hasn’t update since 2021 but wasn’t sure if that was because its only graphics and doesnt require an update. i didnt check the rest yet
Oh wait, which MS version are you talking about? The multiplayer version I published recently works for online play and will be supported, but everything else is on ModDB, the 12 part thing or whatever is no longer supported.
can you give the link to mod page thats hosted by MS?
@anon63664082 can you help update the original post and remove the old mod links, add the new one provided by @TheConqueror753
You will need the full mod on Moddb to see full affects, and the Mulitplayer dat hosted by MS to play multiplayer.
The Multiplayer Mod is here Mods Single - Age of Empires
The full Mod with all UI changes and Graphcis are here:
You can also follow us on Discord and check the updates and patches channel for latest releases. The ModDB updates will happen in parallel to MP version hosted on MS.
Well, technically the MP version will be after by at least an hour or two, maybe a few days, because I don’t get onto it straight away, but yeah.
why not have the moddb stuff also uploaded onto MS’s server?
once subscribed, people wouldn’t need to manually download/copy paste etc
Because file size limitations, and the pain in maintaining I think.
i think the size was upped to 1gb from 500mb awhile back.
what i’d recommend is the stuff you know for sure won’t be changed/touched (graphical wise) to put them all into few pack so people only need to download/update one or two that is with most recent changes
Maybe I’ll think about setting something up with the next update. Do you know if mods update automatically?
i think it use to and still does, but only if player are playing game/ in main lobby on multiplayer ( not sure about single player).
once a player enters a room hosted by someone, they top downloading/updating altgoether. they will only download if they never had the mod before and was downloading from a room, quickly leaves and rejoin
mod multiplayer support is a mess atm.
The current size is about 4.5GB. We could support a 5 file DL on MS and then just offer patch updates moving forward. However, Moddb is definitely easier to host all the graphics and then just use MS for Multi Player. Unsure what is the simpler install/setup.
I originally tried to support both and it became burdensome to maintain the dual file structure by myself. As we add more civs, unique units, and touchup/enhance past graphics, it could cumbersome to update. This slowed my updates in the past. Moving to ModDB allowed for faster updates which is why I made the change.
