So I can’t say my opinion about the game??? Why do you think the game is losing a lot of players??? Isn’t the game totally unbalanced? All the other pantheons have slight differences except for the Atlanteans.
If you like to trust any unofficial website you find on the internet that’s your problem not mine. I’m just saying what I see in the game that’s all. The Atlanteans are the most broken pantheon in the game and they need a big nerf.
Saying your opinion about it is one thing.
Spamming it all over the forums and lashing out against everyone who disagrees or calls your out for it another thing.
Yeah, data on unofficial websites can be manipulated. But who would benefit from all the data being manipulated in the exact same way across multiple, otherwise independant sites? You were asked to provide a compelling narrative to answer that question. You were like “I don’t care, data is false.”
Even if we ignore the data argument. You’re not the only one who plays the game on a regular basis.
If Atlanteans were as OP as you claim, how do you explain that there are no other players here on the forums complaining about the exact same things? How do you explain not getting one response after the other saying “If I play against Atlanteans, I lose two out of three times” or something.
I play skirmish, mostly, so maybe not the best comparison, but I find defeating Egyptians harder than defeating Atlanteans.
And even if you were 100% right. Spamming the exact same thing over and over and over doesn’t get the point across. It only gets annoying. You might be preventing Atlanteans to get any nerfs, even minor ones, in the near future, simply because the people who do read here find you annoying, see everyone disagree with you, and build a bias against nerfing Atlanteans.
The hetairoi is a completely broken unit due to its area damage, it is capable of single-handedly defeating several units at once, it is practically a mythical unit that doesn’t cost a favor and because it is powerful it generates spam of only hetairoi.
Did any of the top players of the game come out to ask for the hetairoi to be nerfed? No.
Did you see any post other than mine asking for the hetairoi to be nerfed??? No.
The people on this forum care little about balancing the game. It is not a coincidence that the game loses players over time. I do not like to play against rivals who are exaggeratedly superior or have a lot more advantage, that is not fun, it is frustrating. Have you ever faced a team of only professional Atlantean players??? Atlantean players only spam heroes, They collect favor too quickly to spam powers every 2 minutes like the vortex power. Do you think it’s fair that the Atlanteans move their entire army to any part of the map every 2 minutes??? That’s completely broken.
Guys, I remind you that debate is always allowed, even if it is a little heated, as long as it does not come to flames. So try to keep the debate at that level.
I’m going to close the duplicate threads and focus on discussing here.
To be honest, the state atm is not great, at least with the menu and AI being passive in campaign bugs…they should’ve released a hotfix for it in a day or two, meanwhile it’s been 5 days and nothing so far…
I wonder if AoM:R will go like AoE1:DE did with very few post-launch patches, and eventually somewhat rolled into AoE2:DE. Might be neat to someday have a “Chronicles of Mythology” in AoE2:DE engine, for instance, but my preference would be to give proper support to existing AoM:R for a while first, and eventually a full-scale AoM:2 using best technologies and artists/devs available.
Chronicles of Mythology could be a back burner thing by a side team, and not necessarily a direct mirror or port of AoM:R either. Could be its own thing with a unique mythological setting
To be clear for me, my vote would be to not do or try to do a direct, one-to-one port, as there is a lot in AoM:R that needs improving, imo. So why not just make a new mythology game, and/or a 4-civ ‘Chronicles of Mythology’
An exact port or replica wouldn’t be too easy, and maybe not possible. But at least graphically, AoE2 already leverages 3D objects, as I understand it, so it could directly leverage AoM or AoM:R 3D assets for ‘the look’. See here:
I think there is probably a lot to explore or create in the mythological realm. They could either fix Atlanteans and expand upon it, or yeah, create/use a new civ. No problem by me!
Totally fair. Sorry that I don’t know anything about the Atlanteans in the game, or in general. I just read before in forums they were maybe very overpowered, but since I don’t own AoM:R, I haven’t followed the conversation much to know if there is more going on. I will definitely pay more attention to some of the issues or grievances with them going forward. Thanks!
My problem is they were added instead of multiple real civilizations which would have been a better fit for the game, and are also inspired on modern conspiracy theories about Atlantis.
If you were around during the launch of the Titans expansion, you know how much this update was appreciated. The Atlanteans became very strong overall and needed balancing, but everyone really liked them.
It also fit well with the game’s story—after Arkantos’ civilization was destroyed due to Poseidon’s betrayal, it made complete sense for them to discover which gods were protecting them. And those gods were the Ancients. It all connected perfectly; it was a brilliant move.
They wouldn’t have been able to make this connection with another civilization, and the story of Arkantos’ Atlantis would have been compromised without protective gods.
The intelligence of game developers would never allow them to make such a brilliant move—they lack IQ and love. Humanity is getting dumber, and this is evident both in works of fiction and in the current narratives of games. And even through the endless recycling of works created in past eras, people have lost the ability to create original things.
Retold is really good. I do not understand the Loki argument since Loki can still do Loki things. Being aggressive or spamming hersirs, are both still somewhat viable strategies.
Retold release was a win already, and getting real high-quality chinese pantheon will make it even better. Voobly platform was frankly just unprofessional and uninspiring while EE was lag and crash fiesta… I don’t think anyone wants to go back to old AoM.
Now I wouldn’t look too much on current playercount, because they obviously rushed the release of the game. Realistically rerelease of this game should have had new campaign mission, major gods, minor gods and pantheons to meet expectations. So AoMR is an incomplete game as it is with lot of people staying in voobly or EE because they don’t perceive Retold having any new content.
Their gods are Greek, their architecture and llamas are Andean, some of their units are Roman-inspired and their language is made up. I would have preferred a proper culture than this weird mishmash.
The world is going through a creative crisis, both in games and in cinema. When I talk about the “recycling of works created in past eras,” I’m referring to the efforts by Hollywood, Disney, and the gaming industry to bring back old franchises with nostalgic weight, because the creative ability to create original content and come up with ideas that capture the public’s attention is in crisis. Just look at the 3D Lion King, the Mufasa movie, Snow White, Wicked, etc. And in games, we see the same thing with franchises like Age of Mythology and many others.
The problem is that all these ‘recycling’ of the past are shaped through the eyes of modern directors, writers, and developers, who lack the creative ability to create or recreate something original and good, thus ending up ruining the old works as well.
