The Republic of Venice: Definitive and Improved Version

It would be nice if they were Venetian ships,
I guess I see this with the lion of San Marco which could currently be identified as a mythological monster, obviously just speculation, I’m just dreaming, but it would be nice

That’s a chimera a greek mythological creature of a lion with the head of a goat and a snake for a tail, not the lion of sain mark, which is a winged lion.

Sadly, that’s no easter egg…

But I might update the concept design for the aoe4 venetians, since it has been long time since I worked on it…

ho yes I know, I meant that the ships have a red flag that reminds me of the one of Venice and this mythological event reminds me of the lion of San Marco

Ahhh ok…

Well a red flag it’s a bit of a stretch, although I would love to see the venetians as a civ… although I would settle for just new civs in general…

Initially, due to the new marine system that was implemented in Aoe2 since Season 3, I was afraid that the build you made for marine units might be too new.

However, after in the last season (5th) the French now have 2 unique marine units (Galeass and the War Cog), I no longer see much of a problem with the Venetians having multiple unique marine units.

In fact, we’re on a trend of possibly more changes to the game in general, sometimes I wonder how things will go 2-3 years from now. Perhaps even as a user suggested, they are encouraged to put the boarding ships (a concept discarded from Aoe2 Vanilla), and if not, at least the “boarding” function for some ships. I feel like in my Japanese model, the Atakabune would work better as a Boarding ship than a replacement for the Galeass, but I was very puritanical when I made it so I didn’t include it.

hey this guy only talks about venice, i don’t know if you know him, even if it may seem strange at first impression, i learned a lot about it thanks to him, in some videos he explains some very interesting topics about venice.

I just realized how many followers he has on Meta, so you probably know him since you’re passionate about the city.

I don’t think I recognize this content, I’ll give it a look as soon as I can, thanks.

I really liked your work!
I’m planning to make a Town Center with this civilization, just like I did here. My idea is to create a collective image of Venice in one building. Do you have any examples that I could draw inspiration from?

I wanted to do the same a few days ago, I started learning blender with the idia of making a Venetian TC XD, unfortunately I’m too bad for now, I hope you make one if you feel like it, it would be a dream.

I can create a thread about the process of creating the model and discussing all the details; I think it will be interesting!

I agree it would be very interesting if you feel like it!

Although, this architecture is not medioeval or even from the renaissance (except for some of it) but it’s mainly from the 1700/1800.

can you find some pictures with older architecture? to share, I don’t know where to look for them, in general maybe there are paintings.

If I’m not mistaken, that’s actually a painting representing a design for the rialto bridge, which was passed over the design that we have today.

I believe I have something, but I have to look for it.

I general, it should be made of red bricks, and have a canal on the sides with a couple of bridges. It should also made mostly of wood, as that was the main building material for the era.

Since we have the Ottomans and the Byzantines are going to join us in a month, I was inspired to do a Venetian civ concept. But it seems that you did the hard work already, great! So I’ll resort to just a simpler topic…
