[TRACKING] 36906: Disconnect within 5 Minutes of joining a Match

Hi, I’m having this issue since the last update (the final days of April), is really annoying to be disconnected in the minute 5 or 10 of the game, I’m connected via ethernet and also opened the indicated ports in my firewall, but the issue persists, please help me to solve this. I really love this game but at the moment is impossible to play, also my rank has dropped so much (even when I’m being disconnected my ELO goes down).

I am experiencing this issue in all of my online games, every game without fail has disconnected within 5-10 mins. Very frustrating way to get kicked repeatedly.

Really need a fix to this, game is unplayable currently.

Hi, since the last update 3906 i can’t join online games… the search is really slow, most of the time when i join a lobby it says “time out”.
When i’m in the lobby most rooms don’t have name…

And when i’m able to join a lobby it doesn’t show the players names or civ’s.

I don’t have any mod installed and this started to happen with the new update, till then everything worked great. Anyone having the same issue?

Are you connecting via Ethernet? I could “solve” the problem being connected with my phone, it doesn’t make sense because I have good cable connection (100 mbps) that works pretty well with everything else except with AOE2, I’m not an expert in this but could it be that the problem occurs with some model of routers or something? Also I’m really sure that the problem started with the last update, before of that the game was running well

What I find interesting is that it seems to break for some people with the new version. I don’t know if I have it still, because i stopped playing multiplayer.

7 days playing without any disconnections!
but today, im getting disconnected all the time.
The nightmare has returned!
So… is there any progress?? Is something being done?

Update:
Still not working.

BUUUT, is AoE2 sponsored by NordVPN?
VPN works, I used FlyVPN (it has a 7 days trial no credit card info asked/limited time per day).
Today, I tried ProtonVPN which has a free plan (though it has a 7 days premium trial)

So, I guess it is the only way, so far.

Can you please provide an update on a fix, this game is still unplayable.

Same issue here.
The game needs a fix, am I supposet to be making changes on my network since the game I bought cannot handle it, since, apparently, everyone can have it? It’s the game that needs a fix, not assuming everyone is a network specialist, I just wanna play.

In any case, 4 out of 6 games I played yesterday had DCs. The last one was me. Really frustrating glitch which surely is affecting all of the community and I am pretty sure most of them don’t use the forums.

I’ve purchased the game “AoE2: DE” last week from Steam, and I tried to play the campaigns and the normal match vs AI everything went well but when I tried to play with my friend or to create our match or even to join others matches or the ranked ones after a few minutes of playing the game freezes and then this message appears

“You have been disconnected from the network. Check your connection and try again.”

Notes:
I was playing and talking with my friend on Discord! I mean how’s that even possible I’m talking to him and the same time the game says check your connection and try again!

1- I’ve checked the network and tried to change a lot of things depending on some recommendations.
2- My Xbox account is connected but I’m playing from My PC.
3- Tried to Validate Steam files
4- I’ve uninstalled the game
5- I’ve uninstalled Steam
6- I’ve formated the PC
7- The ping is normally between 80 and 130 and I’m playing a lot of games with that ping and I never faced any problem like this.
8- It’s working very well on my friend’s laptop
Btw we are talking about “Gaming PC” which supposes to be an advantage.
9- I checked if anyone faced the same problem and I found that a lot of people faced this problem but I couldn’t find any solution.

Is it something related to the host files? Please help.

I think the server connection is always the problem.maybe because they still use the old system 20 years ago

Still with the same problem. When will be able to finish a game?
Make a reconnect system, fix the disconnection problems… or do something.
We are waiting since november!! How much longer will we wait?
