I didn’t compare Age of Empires with Total war.
My comparisons are related to Company of Heroes, AOE3de, Spellforce3.

We should understand what we mean for Old PC. From Steam stats the most of people have PC with 1060gtx and this Is a good Graphic card for fullhd.
I am 33 years old and i played RTS games when i was 13 years old. First game i play Empire Earth then Battle realms, Warcraft,Starcraft,Red Arlet,Total War, Cossack,America Conquest, Alexander game2004 , King Arthur, Settler, Stronghold, Knight of honor, spellforce,Dawn of war, rise of nations, empire dawn of modern war, caesar 3, Poseidon 2001,romance of three kingdoms 13, company of heroes, ancestor legacy, star war empire at war,Battle for middle earth, and ofcourse AOE series. So what? Let take an example:
You can not compare the graphics or style of Total War series with Warcarft3, each game has different graphic style, you know what i mean?
I don’t understand the argument of gameplay > graphics when mentioning old RTS. Most of those had groundbreaking graphics when they came out. AoE2, Starcraft, Homeworld, CoH, BFME, W3, Ground Control, DoW, Red Alert, C&C, and many more, they all had amazing and/or genre defining graphics on release. Why is it wrong to expect the same from AoE4? Because it’s 2021?
Most people, or most people that play rts games?
I don’t recall thinking AoE1 or AoE2 had particularly groundbreaking graphics back when they were released. The graphics were just fine, but realism wasn’t really the point.
For those periods there were not other games with that beautiful graphic: only StarCraft, Caeasar 3 and Stronghold.
Most of people Who play RTS because a big percent of them play only campaigns, scenarios and skirmish. You don’t Need semplicistic Graphic for readability when many people don’t play competerive games.
This. It’s incredibile how so hard to understand that
Can you see the difference?
This game Is only a remaster: AOE4 should be the next installment of a legendary saga.
Now you are just assuming things. We can’t know that for sure.
I don’t play competitively and I really like the art style of AoE4, especially for the readability part. I just wish buildings were a bit larger.
I also have a powerful enough pc to run any modern game, but I’m glad more people will be able to play AoE4 smoothly due to its system requirements.
You don’t? Man when AoE2 came out it was insane. It came only one year after The Settlers 3 and Dune 2000, the gap in graphics was insane. I remember looking at the screenshots over and over in a magazine.
Not assuming, those are the facts
More realism doesn’t necesssarily means better graphic quality. You guys are having some difficulty to understand that as well.
I, and many other people here, think AoE4 looks better than AoE3 DE.
Note that I’m not saying that the graphics are perfect, or that every single aspect of AoE4 looks better. Water looks bad, the buildings could be bigger, siege weapons should be manned, some textures are bad. Even with these issues, I still think it look better than Aoe3 DE.
In the end, the different art styles play a big role in this matter. It comes down to personal preference. You can’t say AoE3 is objectively better
It is okay to expect realistic graphics. Yes, it is a legendary franchise, the graphics could be better. But we don’t know how much money they could put into that part of development as well.
Beautiful graphics doesn’t mean realistic graphics. But right now AoE4 is excelling at neither.
Sorry man but more realism necessalry needs of more details and textures because the First impressions for a Better realism passing trough the graphic and After this by the other gameplay features.
I agree, the graphics are not excellent.
Did you read what i wrote? Details are necesasry for realism. Realism is not necessary per se.
I’m sure of this: AOE has not a Money problems. Ahaha.
I read After i poster my messagge (i was answering) Pretty agree with you.
Those are indications that the majority of players care more for single player experience than multiplayer, not that they have powerful PCs.
On that matter though, a great part of those single player oriented players (myself included) plays mostly skirmish with AI, which is essentially a simulation of multiplayer. If the game is good for multiplayer, it should be good for them, assuming the AI is competent, of course.
Well, unless someone from microsoft tells us that, this is just another assumption. I don’t know the game’s budget.
