What’s steamdb aoe3de happen

Something is something, I suppose…

Well the servers just went down about half hour ago with no prior notice.

Has the update arrived? Imagine it arrives without any communication whatsoever though xD

No, that was a server- and franchise-wide outage. Updates are usually independent from servers.

Oh I know, I was just kidding.

New activity spotted after 5 months, mostly steam related but at least it’s something.

for a full-fledged DLC for the Age of Empires series, the purely internal development phase usually takes 6 to 12 months.

Historical example (Knights of the Mediterranean DLC)
When the developers were preparing the largest European DLCs to date for AoE III (Italians and Maltese), the first hidden moves appeared on SteamDB approximately 9 months before the game moved to the second phase (wider testing and staging).

For the African expansion (The African Royals), the hidden moves on SteamDB took approximately 7 to 8 months in the internal phase.

The hidden moves on SteamDB before the release of the Mexico DLC (Mexico Civilization) took approximately 4 months in the internal phase.

The hidden moves on SteamDB before the release of the USA DLC (United States Civilization) took approximately 5 to 6 months in the internal phase.

So on that basis we should hear something soon

Well, if we base it on that, then they’ve been making moves on the SteamDB branch since October of last year. They stopped in mid-December and returned at the beginning of January, and from then on, the SteamDB moves have been increasing until June, when the moves stopped being frequent, reaching one move per day. At this moment, they’ve resumed the moves in a more frequent way again, like a month ago, This indicates that it has been almost eight months since they started making moves on the steamdb branch.

The time line might be messier than before for a couple reasons.

Firstly, they were restarting a dormant project this time. There are likely backend differences between AoE3 and AoMR which could slow them down as they relearn/remember the game.

Secondly, they may have less developers since some are likely still on AoMR.

In fact, there might not even be any DLC for Age of Empires III on the way, and they might just be working on a bug-fix patch to get back into the swing of things, as you say. We might not hear about new content for Age of Empires III until later, but one thing I’m sure of is that there’s a feeling in the air that something’s going on behind the scenes. What is it? I don’t know, but there’s a sense that something for Age of Empires III is bound to happen eventually.

I agree. But they won’t make a game set in that era. That’s precisely why they avoid talking about this game.

And if we have to wait another year for whatever they’re preparing (if they’re preparing anything at all), remember that 2027 is the 30th anniversary of the saga.

no, bug fixing doesn’t take 6-7 months, bug fixing takes about 2-3 months
