True, it lacks that to catch you… I also play skirmish and it doesn’t end up hooking you…
Yes, you can always improve the civs from the base game…example the english had only one unique unit (longbowman) in the launch of the game and now they have 4…
Of course, or look for a middle ground… civs not so asymmetrical and then with the seasons they will make them more and more asymmetrical…
I have seen this suggestion with different names; I am going to name it “ignore formation option”. Activating this option while ordering multiple units to do something like move somewhere would make these units perform the orders independently from the current formation. Inspired by AoE 2, I would like to see ten more control groups, especially with units in multiple control groups. I often go up to ten control groups and can’t add more without removing another one. Another suggestion inspired by AoE 2 is a focus on the last notification hotkey, which I like to use when going to a building that just produced a unit or villager finishing a building, essentially everything that gives me a notification. When playing with the Mongols, I often use the Access secondary UI panel; however, a Access primary UI panel hotkey is completely missing, and I would like to see that. Also, clicking on a building that is garrisonable, like a town center, and then right-clicking on that building should make sure that units being produced from that building should spawn in it when being produced instead of standing outside. This goes along with my previous suggestion of being able to reset the gather point of multiple buildings by having a separate set gather point button. Finally, I would like to have a toggle that allows me to determine what attack notifications I receive. The toggles I’m currently thinking about are:
When the game locks up at start because another player drops at the loading screen and after 5 minutes of waiting I exit out. Then when I log back in to play I get timed out??? When a game drops it needs to kick you within several minutes!
In my opinion, I dislike the Khaganate and Kurultai.
Khaganate is the second-worst landmark in the game.
Mongols have the basic units just like any civ and have the worst cavalry units in the game.
That I really dislike.
Moreover, Mongols can move buildings, but it is only useful for market buildings, ger, and landmarks. Other buildings that produce and train units and upgrades have no need to move.
On the other hand, English is slightly better, they have the best archers. Great!
They have the best Castles. Great!
About the Mongols, they have the worst of all.
And stones…
Yea, Ottomans and many others do not shine and share the same units (such as sieges etc) and technologies.
Really hope they add more unique upgrades and units for all old civs.
I like the Khaganate Palace, but it would have to let you choose which troops you want to leave and not just random troops, something similar to the Wynguard palace…
I try to keep it short. Overall amazing Game, you are doing great work.
Only one complain, but that’s Ruin 1/3 of all (Team)Games. Team-matchmaking, especially when fair teams could be possible.
Example: 4vs.4 in one Team all gold, other Team 2 gold and 2 without a rank.
Or one team 3 diamonds and 1 gold, other Team 2 diamonds and 2 silvers.
It needs to be split even, so it is no fun for everyone. If it would be fair splitted, the experienced Player can support the lower ranks, they can learn and you have a good fight. As it is now, one Team gets slaughterd, no learn effect, frustration on loser Side and No real joy on winners side. I have been on both.
Please fix that and you get 11 of 10 points.
Have a great day and thanks for all your efforts
After spending 2 slow days at my work reading this thread from the beginning, it’s shaped a bit of my opinions on the game, I’ve really enjoyed the discussion (although it did sound like old men arguing over a chess game move’s legality at times).
My main thing would be for water/hybrid maps to be less dependent if you win water or not. I rarely see water maps go long into imperial because once one player wins water it’s pretty much GG. I think some defensive buff to the docks would be warranted. Also, I find one arrow ship shutting down a lot of feudal units trying to destroy the dock a bit nuts if that player decided to not go water, but instead destroy the dock.
Comment on the Khaganate above, love Kameho3743’s suggestion in line with history.
Otherwise, great game. I’ve been enjoying it since I bought it 2 months ago. Whilst the pathing took some getting used to (ex SC2 Diamond Zerg here), I got used to it.
Oh, and I wish the units wouldn’t studder if I reissue the A-move command while they’re already fighting.
Replay capabilities – rewind would be nice.
There was something else I wanted to mention but I forgot what it was. Nobody had talked to it yet here. Maybe it’ll hit me when I’m sleeping tonight and I’ll post it tomorrow.
In skirmish mode, it should be possible to change alliances during the game so that they are not locked in as they were at the start.
I’d like to be able to kick out an ally that develops too fast or builds in my city center.
Being able to give resources to enemies as well as allies. Sometimes I wish I could give resources to my enemies to make the game last longer.
The player created downloadable maps are very poorly organized and presented. There should be a mandatory screenshot of each card that actually represents it, with a short description.
It’s a shame, because there are some very beautiful and well-designed maps just waiting to be discovered. It’s just too much of a mess.
A button on the interface that would group all military units together, or those that aren’t moving (similar to the unoccupied villagers button).
Once the opponent or ally is dead, we can build our walls with theirs, connecting them together. And also build gates.
Existing gates belonging to the former player would be of no use to anyone, and would have to be destroyed and rebuilt by a new player.
Walls would remain accessible to everyone, provided that at least one door was built into the loser’s wall.
This wall could be the same color as when a player loses in AoE4 and still has buildings. I think the remaining buildings are white.
I’d really like a couple Quality of Life hotkeys added. “Select all traders” and “return all traders to work”, or “Select all Idle traders” etc. I feel like if I go trade it’s a bit more micro intensive than needed compared to villagers to micromanage the trade route, and then send them back to work when being harasses. Specifically for Mongol, since there’s no walls, so unit control is key here. However, if these hot keys were in place it would be a great QoL change for the game imho. Thanks Devs!
I think that in ranked games the option to bann civilisations should be implemented, like in the tournaments or like in other games.
In this games it would force everyone to learn how to play more than 1 civ.
The game would be more dynamic.
It wouldnt be good. I wouldnt care cause ive learnt ever civ. Some people only like playing as there main civ in rank. You cant force people to play what they dont want.
We would see as many rank map pool posts about not being able to pick our own civ lol
Would only work if you could make your own tournaments or leagues in game
This would make more people lean towards unranked mode.
In reality, there should only be one game mode with less emphasis on what rank you are, how much you gain/lose per game and rewards should be repackaged in a way that feels rewarding regardless of what happens.
But, as long as we have casual and RM, people will feel anxiety towards RM. If you make RM different and add unfavourable mechanics such as a civilization-banning feature, it will make even less people want to play RM as the experience will be perceived as more intimidating and foreign to them.
AoE and RTS games in general has a tendency to attract players who prefer a calmer gaming environment. Don’t let Starcraft in Korea fool you, most AoE players are complete potatoes. Making a system like this works for tournaments, because you are talking about the best of the best–but for the masses, this will only further divide the community with no real benefit.
