Why Koreans tho? They didn’t do anything in the early modern period besides the Imjin War.
Just like the USA civ, it doesn’t have to totally fit the timeline. Koreans have amazing landmarks and they have their own empire the same timeline as the USA civ. There are also other threads discussing why Koreans should be added already.
“empire”, no.
Korea was a fairly large kingdom population wise for sure but they only control ethnically Korean land.
no offence to those threads but they hardly ever made a good point, posting a bad video doesn’t right of a sudden validate a faction pick.
people stating that Korea did things they didn’t do (scientific advancements for humanity) also doesn’t make them more appealing.
i am not saying people cant want Korea, but id like the arguments to go deeper than “admiral Yi”. well see tho, i dont think it is too unlikely we 1 day will see Korea in the game.
I believe Persians and Siamese should be top priorities for the Asian civs but I and others also want to see Korean in-game. It doesn’t have to “be deeper” than Admiral Yi. The US civ shouldn’t be in the game actually if we’re referring to historical accuracy.
The first emperor of Korea was actually an empress, Empress Myeongseong so there was an “empire” for Korea. Korean alongside Persians and Siamese have enough landmarks for their Age-up as Asian civs too. Idk it would be up to the devs how they would add more Asian civs.
empire is defined by controlling territory that is not a part of your “core” linguistically, nationally or culturally, korea has never fit that definition no matter what they call themselves or are translated to by foreigners. you can still have the title of emperor even if you dont rule an empire, and similarly you can still be an empire without a monarch.
personally i doubt they can find 15 new wonders to make, not as in they cant find 15 buildings but as in they have to find 15 new unique ideas for what those wonders do, its pretty clear that only really japan had a full set of good wonders in TAD to begin with, with china and india both having clear lags.
I believe in the devs will find good ideas for Koreans, Persians and Siamese wonders.
it is totally possible they will figure that out, what am i to say maybe they find the most interesting ideas possible.
i do feel bad about sometimes “stomping” a bit on peoples ideas and wishes, while Korea isn’t in my top 5 i actually wouldn’t be super offended if they got added, i even actually have some ideas for a possible Korean roster. there are factions i think should be in before Korea, but there are also factions i think Korea ranks above in terms of choices.
When it comes down to it even though I’m personally not enamored for some civs people want added to the game such as the Koreans in this instance I’m quite encouraged people still want more out of AoEIIIDE. Hope that enthusiasm doesn’t let up with the shiny new toy in AoEIV.
I’ll still be playing AoEIIIDE for years to come so more content is very much wanted. After this new civ drops if we can eek out 4 more civs I’d be a very happy camper. Just by the nature of the design for this game we’re not all gonna get the civs we want.
If I had to choose 3 civs these are my top choices. Assuming this upcoming civ is Moroccans
Persians
Italians
Danes
A 4th civ can be whatever. I don’t like odd numbers
I’m hopeful they don’t add more civs from the general Europe-Mediterranean area. The game has done a fantastic job adding civs that weren’t present in previous games and staying away from the location that literally 3 other Age games have as their central core - If we add more, I’d like it to keep being these new areas. I’d be down for Siam or Korea, another American civ, and then another African civ after that to keep us busy for the next 4-5 years.
Apache would be cool I think.
From the Americas, my personal hope is either the Haida or the Iron Confederacy.
i mean for a lot of European factions their first appearance was in AOE 3, the dutch, the russians, the swedes and the portugese all first appeared in AOE 3.
i will admit that i think AOE 2 has gone quiet overboard with European factions adding essentially large duchies as full factions but i dont think we are quiet there yet with Europe.
i think there are none European factions that would be fun to add, esp Persia, but id also lie if i said i do not want a European DLC, cause i definitely do.
after that i guess we can get Commanche or something else.
Ok, so the poll keeps attracting new people, that vote, which make it harder and harder to count the votes and check for people who voted 2 times.
Still, the result are anyway pretty clear. Italians are the clear winners, followed by persians and moroccans.
Since a lot of people thought wants more options, and it’s a mess to add options to the poll, I’ll do the following:
I’ll make a new topic with a poll that asks to choose among the 3 civs most picked (Italians, persians and moroccans). This way, people who might have preferred another civ is forced to settle for something else, but we will see which civ is overall preferred. Who knows, it may change the actual ranking.
Then, under such poll, I’ll link another poll (on an external site) where I’ll put together all options. This has the goal to obtain, in the long run, a more accurate data, from a larger sample.
I’ll add other factions that you require, if you post them as an answer to this message. To suggest me an option, just write a post with just the name of the civ (or civs) highlighted like this:
Civilization
To do so, you need to write the name, then go to head, and put just the symbol -
If you don’t reach the 20 characters, just go head again and spam … or write (20 characters).
I’ll read only posts made like this, and I’ll wait 3 days for them. I’ll also read previous comments, to see if I miss some potential suggestion, but I can’t make promises that I’ll find them all.
For the moment, I’ll make just the top 3 poll.
for reasons of the saga, they were already in aoe 1 as choson and as Koreans in aoe 2,in aoe 3 they would be Koreans influenced by the imjin war (1592-1598),the Korean aid to the Ming in the Ming-Qing war between 1618 and 1627,the Manchu invasions of 1627-1639 and the foreign interventions between 1866 and 1895…
the battle of Sarhu in 1619 between the Manchu and the Joseon Dynasty…the Qing Jurchen or Manchu troops attacking Korean archers from Joseon during the Ming-Qing War…
the Korean defense of the fortress of Namhan against the Manchus in the Second Manchu invasion in 1636,resisting for 47 days…
Here is the poll to chose among the top three civ:
I remember to add you suggestions to the poll that I’m building outside the forum.
For now, the civ are those ones:
Remember to tell me if there are any that miss. I have added all the civs found in this topic, and of other topics too.
Here is the link for the newer and bigger poll, where you can express your vote on more options, and you can give a vote to each civ.
