How close we are… Retold I already feel you…
Seems it went live by mistake
I bet you are on a terrorist list for trying to set the coliseum on fire. How does that even work? It’s made of stone.
It’s for sure from the rise of rome expansion box CD cover of AOE 1 lol
I would like to see kill cam, like whenever a strong myth unit devours another unit/human in single shot, we get to see it up close with kill cam.
It’s good to see that the community is united on the front of reworking the Chinese to give them a unique identity rather than just making them good at too many things.
Most of what I care about is on the map editor end, but for starters, allowing for larger map sizes in an obvious one. If we can get the map limit increased to at least 2000 x 2000 with much higher object limits, that would be a boon! It would also be cool to have 50-100% higher elevation limits, both above and below sea level. Another thing I’m hoping to see is more functions/triggers in the map editor to allow for more interesting player interactions with units and objects.
AI, of course, is a big one. Naval AI was absolutely atrocious, and wouldn’t even work on most custom maps. It also broke if the map was too large/had too many objects (I’m guessing it had a 16-bit limit at the time).
I don’t know if or how many civs they have on the roadmap at the moment, but if they really intend to support this game longterm, my personal top 5 picks would be the Babylonians (just imagine an arc on the Tower of Babel), Celtics, Indians, Japanese and Aztecs. This part is just wishful thinking, though.
Otherwise, I just want the remake to stay true the original spirit of the game, and for each of the Gods/civs to be well-balanced, with their own interesting ways of acquiring favor and achieving victory. I already assume the team is going to implement a lot of the same QoL changes we’ve seen in other Age games, so I’m confident in them delivering on that area. From what I understand, the team has a community counsel, which is very reassuring. Despite the mistakes they make sometimes (seriously, you guys couldn’t just put the Return to Rome content into AoE:DE?), one thing I appreciate about them is that they’ve shown more willingness to listen to community feedback than certain other teams in the industry.
This cant come out soon enough. I want to build my myth units
June went away…i don’t see any news yet…
Yeah, I thought they were going to show something at the Microsoft conference but they kept showing Starfield…now we’ll have to wait for Gamescom in August…
I would like to see gods being used as units down the road assuming if everyone is on board with it. Of course each player can only summon 1 god per match.
Since the Retold version is going to deviate probably moreso than the other Definitive Edition treatments. I think they can weaken the titans stats quite a bit and instead carry the original stats over to the gods instead. This way, we can have both “titans” and gods playable. Ain’t no myth game if we can’t control the gods, right?
IIRC, most players would build wonders defensively and strategically wait it out whereas summoning a god, or a “moving wonder”, specializes in offensive strat.
Titans are just intermediate threats. Gods, on the other hand, could be game ending threats.
Gods are quite unstoppable from a lore standpoint. But I think it is still possible from a multiplayer/competitive perspective. Hear me out.
For example, let’s say the enemy player summons Ares. You focused all of your resources on attacking and “defeating” him. Once Ares’s HP reaches zero, he complains and says, “Don’t tell my sister what happened or I will crush you.”
Odin: Ragnarok? No, not yet… I will be back, mortal.
Osiris: Duties call in the realm of the dead.
Yu Huang: Come and be my bodyguard in case Sun Wukong rebels again.
The gods then ascend back to the heavens or the underworld in a valiant but proud way.
You mean basically using the main god as a Titan?
Major or minor gods, I’m not sure. Whatever makes everyone happy.
Or maybe the old titans can be changed to just intermediate leveled units that are stronger than regular mythical units but sit just below the gods. Though, to be honest, now that I think about it, I think this idea might be better suitable for Age of Mythology II instead.
It’s 3/4 years after the announcement teaser, and nothing new since October.
Imo some gods could be playable in a potential new campaign, but not in skirmish mode. Titans already are the “supreme units” and there’s no need for more.
3/4 years after what?
This ad is not even a year old.
3/4 years = 0.75 years = 9 months
I really want this. I never got into AOM till it was towards the end of it being popular. Want my chance to take the Egyptians to the top!
In my case it was in 2006 at the height of AoE 3…
