What would you like to see in Myth Retold?

I would like to see an encyclopedia mode where players can rotate a specific unit model and read its history and stats.

That would be awesome! I remember back when I was playing the original game, I’d spend so much time clicking on units and upgrades just to read the history and mythology. I hope they don’t just abandon this.

awesome idea! and nice to see you back!

I want to see the corpse-decaying effect rather than remains sinking into the ground and nothing left.
Wait ,not just me, but 85 players out of 115 respondents want that too.

我也非常希望保留(罕见的在内部论坛神话板块看见国人

A stricter anti-cheat system than AoE IV.

Depends on how the taunts are phrased. For example,

Could work as “How weak you are, MY players are an age ahead of you". Would be a bit odd if the player and AI have the same god, but eh.

Also, I hope you can man the catapults.

Yeah, me too. I checked for that in EE, but its a shame they removed it, only providing the basic info needed for gameplay. The original AoM contained completely detailed information about flora and fauna, down to their scientific names, which was one of the many reasons I loved that game. But I honestly don’t think it will be present in Retold.

Even fictional scientific names for myth creatures.

Yeah, I remember. It was awesome!

Of course, that’s the idea…

Of course, for me they are going to maintain that, even make a compendium like AoE 3 with all the information about the game…

Yes, I also said that they say it in the first person like the AIs in AoE 3…

F in the chat then…

I would like to see the same hype from eso, no matter if I’m playing on a square PC or now on a refined PC

i wonder if certain units get very unique/useful upgrades.

like some units can “fly” with an upgrade.

or

in petsuchos/petsobek case i would LOVE to see it being able to attack in melee if some unit is in melee range since its a giant crocodile after all. (looks really awesome btw!)

I’d like to see more weight to the game world physics.

The gravity in Retold looks like unrealistic moon gravity sometimes. Linear curves for the gravity as things fly up and then slowly float down on the same linear velocity curve, rather than getting a nice weighted acceleration as things fall.

Same happens for walls falling to pieces, the bricks just float down to the ground as they spin uncontrollably. Which is pretty much the same game physics seen in games from two decades ago, where objects behave more like styrofoam than heavy objects. (See when the dragon shoots fire at wall.)

Many of the 1,000+ pound titans and other characters have little or no weight to their animations. They walk and stroll around as if they weigh 100 pounds. Would like to see more weight, more force, more thud in their movements. Same goes for some of their attack/swinging animations. There’s very little feeling of weight and oomph to their animations, for being such massive creatures.

The earthquake rumble effects look really cool, though!

i so hope Katapeltes and Peltast are way more useful now and get better stats/buffs.

I also hope Poseidon Militia and Egypt Mercenaries get nerfed hard (or completely changed at best)

I also am not sure about the Promethan design. They look for sure way better than the AoM ones (which looked totally boring/lame in my honest opinion) but i think they could need something to make them look more special and i am not speaking of glowing feet lol

Also please look again after Chimera and especially Cyclops. Cyclops’ club looks weak and very boring (maybe via upgrade better?) also since Mino and Cyclops seem to have very similar size now could you male cyclopses a bit bulkier please? again mino looks great, but please differentiate cylcopse more from mino.

chimera i am a bit biased cause i love the dragons dogma 2 design so much. but i also like your idea overall but chimera looks a bit too small in the screenshot you shared with us. also i would love to see it getting wings like in many other arts as an upgrade. the snake part could be at least a bit thicker in my opinion from what i saw. maybe you find a way to improve chimera a bit or share a better image of it. i would very much appreciate this.^^

behemoth looks freaking cool and badass but his horns could be a tad thicker since it is using those to shred buildings after all.

also please give mountain giant/jotun an upgrade where his club gets more badass too. but thats a very minor thing compared to the other points i mentioned.

would be great if those improvements would be possible! @Vumie3404

petsobek, phoenix, fire giant, heck everything else looks amazing so far big kudos!

@EverybodysFoo1

Cyclop and chimera are just unpolished models, the finished versions won’t be as ugly and small as we have seen in the trailer and leaked gameplay, they will be taller and beefier for sure.

Same thing for heka giant, in the leak it looks too lean and small compared to mountain giant and that just screams ‘unpolished’, thus there is no reason to worry about imo.

I agree that promethean (atlantean myth unit) fells underwhelming, it should be beefier too, right now it looks like a generic alien dude for no reason.

It’s amazing that the online community is still going (mostly south american these days). I think it could have been much more successful if there weren’t so many match making issues. You have to attempt like 5 games before getting one that will play to completion. It’s a great game, but the multiplayer never took off like it should have. Here’s a few suggestions to address this:

  1. have a picking phase pre-game, where each side takes turns picking their god among other choices. Possibly a banning phase. This is also great for strategy time, so make it possible to chat to teammates here.
  2. implement a pause feature when a player disconnects. have a max pause timeout duration wherein the opposing team can resume play even if the disconnecter has not reconnected again.
  3. Allow the remaining players after a time, to determine how to split the resources of the missing player.
  4. If losing a player would create in imbalance, find a way to resolve it. (votekick one member of the team with the most players, or randomly kick, or, have them become neutral and be forced to play the status quo. (configuration - let how this will work be determined pre-game)
  5. screw the wonders, but do have overtime mechanics that kick in at an agreed upon time pre-game. more than one would be best. perhaps having control of certain locations (possibly a plenty vault) which must be maintained for a duration to win the game.
  6. refine the mechanic that determines when a player has taken control of a plenty vault or fountain of healing. It doesn’t make much sense currently, and it’s hard to determine what even causes it to change alliances.
  7. dont’ worry about behavior scores or match making’s finer details yet. Just make a game that people enjoy playing.
  8. teleporting units is lame, walking or transport is more the style i’m hoping for, it should require some strategizing to determine where to have your troops start walking. Encourage multiplayer to work more closely together, my border is your border, one player can be taken out easily which can start a downward trend that is hard to come back from. Building a shared city is probably one of the best ways to respond to each others needs faster.
  9. custom map builder and sharing of maps you created

All of this assumes that the multiplayer is playable from a technological standpoint. I’m not sure that the current AOM online is p2p, but it still feels like it is. A disconnect is essentially game over today. Maybe instead of unanimous voting when a player disconnects you go with majority… that would at least give those who want to keep playing the chance.

also i’d love to volunteer to help with the development of a few features. I’ve got time. And i love this game.

I hope each god gets its individual UI skin as it as the case in the original. That’s sadly something that was removed in EE (but luckily there’s a mod that brings that back):
