I did think the jungle biome they added in the TotD DLC was neat, even if we associate that particular environment with Southeast Asia more than China (although the southern part of China is semitropical, with the island of Hainan being fully tropical). So I hope to see that arrive with Retold’s Chinese DLC along with some Southeast Asian animals.
Hello everyone, the game is great and I can play multiplayer now after update. I m so happy! I would love it if you could change some art regarding the gods and in a whay that we can also play normal multiplayer with these modifications. Please bring back the Athena style from beta with her black hair this new one looks nothing like what she should represent, same with Prometheus, previous art he looked like he was some sort o# # # with fire out of his hand, now he is plain Joe in a barn with a torch, give us the previous art with him please, also alow us to chose the old art from the previous AOM Gods for each individual God and not swap between all these and all that, I love the old art of Skady, Hephaistos, Ptah, Tyr. The earlier mentioned ones, the new art is lacking and depressing, I just don’t want to play them when I see them. Also please change Set’s art, he looks like an everyday friendly pipsqueak. I am adding a reference to how Set should look: menacing, cunning, dark etc(see attached pic). I also have a big problem with Freyja, new art is horrible she looks old, ugly and has nothing close to what she represents and her beauty, at least give her the previous style from beta that was great! Last but not least Aphrodite was made a little thicker on the hips/legs in a mod by someone, please get inspired by his mode, you can’t make a ############# G look like she is anorexic and unable to reproduce! Otherwise the game is great and can’t wait for more!

The defensive buildings in this game are too weak and have a low sense of presence. There are already magical elements. Why are they still stuck to the traditional design of the Empire Age? I think defensive buildings can have some skills like mythical units, such as firing an arrow that can freeze units or glowing explosive arrows every few seconds. They can also be other more imaginative buildings instead of arrow towers.

Add visual effects of bleeding units. It doesn’t have to be too bloody. A little bit is enough to increase the atmosphere during the battle. I hope this function can be turned on or off in the settings.

Various special effects are too conservative. Why not exaggerate without affecting the battle itself?
#### audio effects are relatively poor, which is very obvious compared to AOE4.

I hope there can be a broadcaster like other RTS such as StarCraft 2. It would be better if each main god has a different broadcaster. The current various prompt sounds are a bit noisy for many players. The original prompt sounds can be retained, but I hope that the option of switching between the broadcaster and the prompt sound can be added in the settings.

I hope there is an option to switch the graphic style in the settings, similar to some kind of filter, because as far as I know, many people don’t like the current graphic style, although I think it’s okay. Although the game’s graphics are very high quality, the graphic style still looks very old, and many new players don’t like this style.
7 Gaia’s lush has no animation effect, as if it is not finished. I would rather it expand slowly and continuously instead of like a PPT.

The assembly point of this game, the box for selecting buildings and units, and the edge of the map are all handled very strangely (very ugly and not obvious). I hope these things can be like the style of ##### #### moving gold thread style, but here it doesn’t have to be gold, it can be various colors, depending on the player’s choice. I hope this replacement option can be added to the settings.

I hope to add some differences between the buildings and units of different main gods of the same pantheon, at least some visual effects, such as a small difference in the armor worn by the units. The current differences are too small and it is difficult to find without careful observation. If balance can be guaranteed, I hope the same mythical or common units will be slightly different under different gods, just like the colossi of different commanders in StarCraft 2.

I hope these small suggestions can make the game more perfect.
I am missing three things personally:
- split Military and Civilian Gather points
- Treaty Mode! Why was it cut from Retold, my friends and I always favored treaty mode!
- “Expansive” AI, a version of the AI from EE, which expands and overall felt more dangerous than the other AIs
Stuff that could make multiplayer better:
- A sort of non-ranked Elo score, so it’s easier to make fair teams in lobbies
As for new stuff, I’d love to see
- obviously more God packs like the Freyr one, which is already really fun
- Central/South American Pantheon
- Maybe a Slavic Pantheon

Would like to see improvements made to the spectator and replay modes. Lacking some very important features as of right now. These modes are essential IMO.
Dont know if anyone suggested this yet, but just in case I will post them. These suggestions will make it easier to check unit stats and compare them.
- Tech tree leads you to compendium: When viewing the tech tree, you right click on the unit/tech/building icon and it opens up the compendium card of the respective unit/tech/etc.
- Search bar in compendium: A simple search bar to make it easy to find units and techs in the compendium.
- Applicable upgrades: Basically when viewing a unit in the compendium you can select to apply the posible upgrades so you can see the stats with that upgrade researched.
- Missing stats: for some reason we cant see the bonus damage or the range of the units in the compendium, we should be able to see that.

Yes, they will probably redo the entire Chinese campaign, which was the weakest part, and leave the rest as it was in TotD…
They can always add it to other pantheons…
They’re probably saving it for later on in some DLC and adding it as a game mode…
Someone noted that the Vidar godpower is similar to the Chongli godpower in TotD. That’s a clear sign that there will be substantial changes.
I don’t know if that’s true, and I’m not gonna bother to look up Chongli right now.
Remember: Nothing stops Mycrosoft from releasing pantheons in the future that are as bad or even worse than the TotD Chinese, other than us having higher standards and letting them know that.

- More Editor only units (maybe some more native or tribal units to give to mother nature to act like bandits for example)

Asklepius has Pythonisa as a myth unit that fights at ranged (with pierce damage) and may heal other units
Asklepius has a God Power that heal all of your Villager units on map over 8 seconds
Asklepius technologies bonuses are (1) increase food gathering speed by 20% for your Villagers whenever food don’t comes from Farm, (2) increase Health by 10% and set HP Regen by +1.00 for your Villagers and (3) reduce population cost by 1 and wood cost by 20% for Pythonisa by upgrading it into Delphi Pythonisa.
Asklepius is available for Classic Age
Physician is Demeter exclusive Human Unit available on Town Center and on Temple at Archaic Age that benefits from some technologies that also improves Villagers
Physician should be regarded as a civilian unit like your Villagers but with several abilities (1) can gather food from Berry Bush and Herdable Animals and Huntable Animals, (2) can gather favour by praying at temple and (3) can heal other units
Physician comes with several restrictions as (1) cannot gather food from farms, (2) cannot gather wood neither gold and (3) cannot build anything at all.
Demeter has a God Power that sprouts a cluster of 9 Berry Bushes over 25 seconds on target area, which fits her economic specialization and her lore as a Major Goddess of Agriculture
Demeter has a technology that allow gain gold equal to 10% of food gathered by Villager, Physician and Fishing Boat whenever they’re depositing food at Docks, Granary and Town Center
Demeter passive boosts includes (1) reduction food, wood and gold costs by 35% and reduction time research by 15% for all Granary Technologies, (2) reduction food, wood and gold costs by 35% and reduction time research by 15% for all Fishing Boat Technologies, (3) reduction wood costs by 10% for Docks, Farm and Granary build and (4) increase to Villager, Physician and Fishing Boat line of sight by 4
Demeter would not have a military human unit at Heroic Age as she have Physician as civilian human unit at Archaic Age instead, keep in mind that will be the price for opt to play with a economic greek major god rather than other three major gods who are specialized in different military units.
One thing more, Arachne should be regarded as a myth unit available for another god who has spiders as myth units at Atlantean Pantheon.
Also, as Demeter is a Major Goddess with economic specialization, maybe granting her access to Aphrodite at Heroic Age and Artemis at Mythic Age would be a good idea, even though Ares at Classical Age isn’t exactly what fits her well.
A sad thing that no Plenty God Power at Mythic Age access for Demeter though, seems it is the price to have both Artemis and Another minor greek god available at Mythic Age.
It would be really nice to change the villager training speed to 20 or even better 25 seconds.
I personally feel they currently train way too quickly and there is barely any time managing fights/raids etc if you don’t wanna have idle villagers.
It’s just way too many villagers that you have to keep micro-managing in a too short time.
Ressources run out quickly, so you have to relocate them over and over and its just too many vills in early/mid game before you have farms etc.
That would make recovery too difficult. It would put players very behind, even if they lose a few villagers.
- The construction process of the building needs more detailed improvements. The current construction process is very simple. If you look closely, the scaffolding only has textures. I think this process should be as detailed as AOE4.
- The building should randomly generate some small roads and some small decorations around it like AOE4 to improve the monotonous layout of the building. After the construction of the current batch of buildings in the game is completed, they look like individuals that are not related to each other, not like a stronghold or a town, and the overall aesthetics are lacking.
- The destruction effect of the building is very good, but when the building is destroyed, the flying debris lacks weight, and the sound effects deepen this feeling, especially for those non-wooden buildings.
- The buildings do not look three-dimensional enough. Although they are 3D models, if you don’t zoom in, they look like they are attached to the ground (slightly exaggerated).
- The richness of the buildings is not enough. I hope the landmark buildings can return.
- The overall shape of the building is not much different. It is still the design of the old game. The details are lacking. They all look similar. The changes between different civilizations are too small.
Although the original AOM was a game released more than 20 years ago, AOM: RETOLD is a game set in 2024. I hope that the game can remain modernized while maintaining the original style, absorbing the advantages of previous games in the Age of Empires series and even other popular RTS games, so as to attract more players.
I mostly play/ed coop vs pve in aoe4 and would really like to see an easy que for that in aom aswell

I do love AoE3DE and how it looks like but AoMR is just looks better in almost every way in my opinion.
I really like how they improved the Lush since the Beta. I don’t see what’s wrong with it.
