I’d like to see an overhaul of the AI. I’ve been playing it a bit more lately and I’ve noticed that it tends to make the same mistakes. I like the idea of the ‘personalities’ but they all play too similar. I think the problem with the AI is they tried to make it too blanket to cover all the Civs with the least amount of programming. Which means its always taking the same approach with attacking, building, GP use etc. It isn’t specific unique enough to use MUs, GPs and god bonuses to their full potetial.
Some things I’ve noticed: it waits until later to collect relics, focuses on some enemy TCs and ignores others, doesn’t optimise favor gathering as Japanese or Atlantean, casts god powers like fimbulwinter straight off cooldown without syncing it to any attack stratergy, isn’t very resilient after losing a TC
Sea trade has been around since AoE 1, yeah.
But no one else plays on sea maps. They’ve even been disabled in the ranked pool. First, we need to somehow force players to play on the water.
Canaanites are my most wanted Pantheon now that Aztecs are confirmed. I even created a design document for them after AoM:R came out. I don’t think they’ll ever get added but they could be a genuinely amazing faction
The game needs so many fixes. Big names in the community already made videos about that.
And implement better Ranked Stuff into the game. Also several Forum Posts already done to that as well! >.<
You have to take care of your game! Fix stuff, make stuff better, and do something <.< not only new buyable DLC’s >.<. This game could be so much bigger …
I would love to see an additional setting at the start of a skirmish which allows to switch god power use to Age of mythology classic mode or to turn it off completely. Some sort of a slider or sliders with settingts which would go something like:
-Off - disables the use of god powers
-Classic - allows to use god powers once (or twice in some cases - to be discussed / decided upon)
-Retold - current god power system.
(or at least 2 out fo the 3 options would be great)
I find it weird how back in the days when Titans where added with Atlanteans it somehow wasn’t a problem to add an on/off button to the mechanics same as you have with win conditions (wonders, relicts, TCs etc) starting resource ammounts etc and with Retold we somehow just got a major change in godpower use mechanics implemented compared to classic and we’re just supposed to go with it. Not gonna argue that the old system was better or that it should be centrally changed in one direction since both ways of playing have their perks but would be cool if we got to choose while setting up a game.
Yes, for me the following gods in order are: Amun (Egyptians), Nyx (Atlanteans), Obsidian Mirror (Aztec pantheon) in 2026, Yu Huang (Chinese), Izanami (Japanese) and the Inca pantheon in 2027…
