Why isn't Austria (Habsburg) coming to DLC?!

Aren’t hussars from Hungary?

unit might have been invented in Poland but the unit in game was used by the germans.

Totally agree. I really can’t see the point to any of these civ split threads when the devs already released several cards that allows you to tailor the German and Indian civs to represent the specific kingdoms that you want to play as, I can understand if you want more of these Cards (in fact I’m all for it), but I don’t think we’re at the point where civ spits should even be considered.

Poland was empire in XVI-XVII but in XVIII century had a strong crysis. Prussia ,Russia , Austria make partitions of Poland and step by step in the end of XVIII century Poland was occupied all by these cooperating nations. By the time occupants make units with Poles or mostly of Poles like Uhlans or Towarczys for example.

Cramming in useless cards is one of the main reasons I want them to be split. Stuff like Landwehrs is unnecessary bloat that doesn’t make the civ better. Making 2 civs would be much preferable to packing in 2 civs worth of cards and references into one civ.

Ulans were Polish yes, the germans adopted them as a unit type and prussia until late 19th century also often fielded them just as core troops of their bi-ethnical state. Remember, Prussia was for the longest time of the game span a part of the PLC not the HRE.

Landwehr type upgrades should just be guard updates for Crossbows. And be available to all non specific X-Bow factions.

Yes, currently the Germans represent the Holy Roman Empire to which Austria and Prussia (through Brandenburg) belonged…

Brandenburg-Prussia (German: Brandenburg-Preußen) is the historiographical name for an early modern kingdom formed in 1618 through a personal union between the Duchy of Prussia and the Margraviate of Brandenburg (part of the Holy Roman Empire). The Brandenburg-Prussian State was succeeded by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1701, and was absorbed by the newly founded German Empire in 1871.

Brandenburg-Prussia in 1618 at the beginning of the Thirty Years’ War

Prussia in 1714, after finishing the War of the Spanish Succession

The HRE (current Germans civ) before the French Revolution (1789)

Of course, in fact, it was a whole process from 1701 to 1871… between 1525 and 1701, Prussia was a minor subject within the Holy Empire, from 1701 it began to acquire more power until the climax of the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) which began as an Austro-Prussian rivalry, and after the Prussian victory in the war it produced a change of power in the HRE, making Prussia become a great power, which led to German unification by Prussia a century later…

Of course, no more, no less… the Germans are mostly Austria and not so much Prussia…

Or Maximilian I, Charles V, Ferdinand II, Leopold I, Charles VI or Francis II…

Uhlans (/ˈuːlɑːn, ˈjuːlən/; Polish: ułan ; Lithuanian: ulonas ; German: Ulan ;[1] French: uhlan ) were a type of light cavalry, primarily armed with a lance.[2] They first appeared in the cavalry of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth,[3] in the early 18th century. Uhlans were quickly adopted by the mounted forces of other countries, including France, Russia, Prussia, Saxony, and Austria-Hungary. The term “lancer” was often used interchangeably with “uhlan”; the lancer regiments later formed for the British Army were directly inspired by the uhlans of other armies (even they were never known by that name).

Uhlan units started emerging in Western European armies during the War of Austrian Succession, starting with an uhlan squadron, known as the Natzmer Uhlanen, formed by Frederick the Great in 1740.[10] The next year, the squadron was expanded to an uhlan regiment, finally being transformed into Natzmer’s 4th Hussar Regiment in 1742.

A hussar (/həˈzɑːr/ hə-ZAR,[a] /hʊˈzɑːr/ huuz-AR; Hungarian: huszár [ˈhusaːr]; Polish: huzar [ˈhuzaːr]; Serbo-Croatian: husar / хусар [xûsaːr]) was a member of a class of light cavalry, originating in Central Europe (Hungary) during the 15th and 16th centuries. The title and distinctive dress of these horsemen were subsequently widely adopted by light cavalry regiments in European armies during the late 17th and 18th centuries. By the 19th century, hussars were wearing jackets decorated with braid plus shako or busby hats and had developed a romanticized image of being dashing and adventurous.

Several modern armies retain the designation of hussars for armored (tank) units. In addition, a number of mounted units survive which wear historical hussar uniforms on parade or while providing ceremonial escorts.

Historically, the term derives from the cavalry of late medieval Hungary, under Matthias Corvinus,[3] with mainly Serb warriors.

Silesian Wars - Wikipedia Age of Empires is good game to show that conflict too in some new , addtional missions. Pity that some people thinking that in AOE 3 game it should be one , very general faction with mix of Habsburgs and a little but not much Prussian aspects.

The most likely thing is that in the absence of another German civ they will put in the Austrian War of Succession (1740-1748) and the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) and say that’s it, we already have the Silesian Wars represented (since the Silesian Wars are included in these two)…

if by some people, you mean the literal Lead developer

The Lead Developer may have his own subjective opinion, but that immediately means that it is amazing?

if you want to quantify the lead developer as a “subjective opinion” then yeah sure its meaningless I guess. Good luck tho

Developer mixed two strong , powerfull empires whose change Europe - Habsburg Austria & Prussia and also other german states to one general faction but in the same he made some native tribes as separate factions. I dont think that’s is very consistent.

gonna tell you my dude that tilanus was probably a teenager when the game was made

I’m going to be generous and assume he means going from Sioux (Oceti Sakowin) to specifically Lakota as was done in DE. I certainly hope he doesn’t mean all Natives are so similar they should be lumped together as a Native Americans civ.

We can hope so, but my experiences here do not leave me filled with the zesty optimism that I once had

No i mean only that also Prussia & Austria should be separated. Some people said that they have a same language but Portugal and Brazil also ( Devs said Brazil probably will be added someday cause someone in team like that idea very much). So i think that in the game is a place to Brazil & Portugal , Prussia & Austria , native tribes and many more ( hoping esspecialy for Persia , Morocco , Korea , Crimean Khanate.

Yes, after the Baltic DLC, let’s see where they go (surely in some pup the flags of the next civs will be leaked)…

I would prefer to see a proper announcement of the next upcoming DLCs, like when they announced the USA civ and TAR DLC.

Maybe when the dlc comes out or in March of next year they will announce something, but we will surely have 3 dlcs between this year and next…
