World Expo - New Mod Project

I know this is a civilization beta, but I have a few questions, especially about the Patriotic Lodges.

Logia Patriótica.
Will the priests be the final unit, or will they be replaced later by another unit? For example, Surgeon.
Will the technology of Mercantilism be maintained or will it be replaced by Bourbon Reforms?
Will the Patriotic Lodge generate an experience like a church would?

Ganadería.
Aside from the Sociedad la Rural card, are there other ways to increase the livestock limit?

Infernales.
Are they always going to cost Wood or is that something that can be changed via a card or the Imperial Upgrade?

Pulpería.
I assume it’s a bug, but just in case, I’d like to know if there are plans to allow Pulperías to create outlaws for free. I’m asking because of the military production icon it has.

Gauchos.
Was the food cost reduced to 100 for balance or is this something exclusive to the beta?

Las civis se ven piola, además se nota el cariño y esfuerzo que le están poniendo, los felicito y les deseo surte para este y todos sus proyectos futuros. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Why Bourbon reforms out of all things?

Assuming I’m not confused, because of its impact on the military system and its political repercussions in the Viceroyalty of the River Plate.

Replacing Priests with Surgeons make sense I suppose, will consider it.

The Mercantilism replacement for Argentina is “Gran Logia Argentina”, which has the same effect as the United State and Mexico mercantilism replacements IE gives you crates of XP based on ingame time.

Sociedad Rural doesn’t increase livestock limit to begin with? I think there’s some lategame federal cards that might.

Always cost wood atm.

No of course Pulperias don’t produce outlaws for free.

I simply didn’t change Gaucho train cost.

Question: Can I add the Unstoppable Streletsy live where he analyzes Chilean civilization?

:+1:

You’re right, I saw wrong.

I confused build time with build limit

Understandable, it would have been very similar to the Mexican Rancheros strategy. XD

I appreciate you considering this. The truth is, the Surgeon is one of my favorite units, and I’d love to see it featured in more civilizations. : )

Direct Request – Brazil Civilization (18th and 19th Centuries) in AoE3DE :brazil:

Hello everyone,

First of all, congratulations on the amazing work in the mod! It’s impressive how much the community has grown thanks to the dedication of people like you, who keep Age of Empires III alive and full of new content.

I would like to make a sincere and respectful request: the inclusion of the Brazil civilization, focused on the 18th and 19th centuries — a historically rich period marked by conflicts, political transformations, and a unique military identity.

I’m not a modder, and I don’t know anything about the technical side. My contribution is with historical research, ideas, and real content gathering — all of which I’d be glad to share to help collaboratively.

Although the WoL mod already includes some Brazilian-related elements, I think it would be a great idea to ask for permission to reuse some of their data where appropriate.

Also, I don’t agree with the idea of using enslaved workers — that belongs to the period under Portuguese domination, before Brazil achieved independence. After that, the path toward the abolition of slavery began.

Here are some structured suggestions that could serve as a base:

:shield: Unique military units (18th and 19th centuries):

  • Voluntários da Pátria (light infantry)
  • Caçadores (regular infantry)
  • Line Infantry (heavy musketeer-type infantry)
  • Lanceiros Negros (light cavalry)
  • Dragões da Independência (Imperial heavy cavalry)

:classical_building: Home City cards based on real historical events:

  • “Abolition of Slavery”
  • “Paraguayan War Campaign”
  • “Reforms of Duke of Caxias”
  • “National Guard”

:hammer_and_pick: Brazilian economy adapted to gameplay:

  • Sugarcane plantations and cattle ranching (produce food; like how the Inca use llamas, Brazil could use cattle)
  • Gold and iron mining
  • Coffee (a commercial resource, possibly handled via the Coin Mint)

:performing_arts: Cultural and mechanical elements:

  • Alliances with Portuguese, American, and British powers
  • Age-up political system: Imperial Monarchy vs. Liberal Republic
  • Native allies: Tupi, already in the game

If this idea is of interest, I would be very happy to collaborate however I can — with historical sources, real troop names, card drafts, and gameplay suggestions based on documentation.

Thank you so much for keeping the flame alive! It would be an honor to see Brazil well represented in the world of AoE3DE.

With respect and enthusiasm,
From a fan of AoE3DE and Brazilian history :brazil::scroll:

I designed a large part of WoL’s Brazil, I don’t have to ask permission. Like for the most part I was the one who sourced the voice lines for example.

So do you have any historical research to show?

Because I’m not seeing anything that I couldn’t already find in WoL or through a cursory glance at Wikipedia.

So, congratulations and thanks for the service in WoL, that mod was awesome, but unfortunately it is not available in DE.

It is just a request to bring Brazil to AoE3DE.

Considering WoL, bring it with some changes, such as removing slaves as colonists, changing them to citizens or free men, or leaving them just colonists.

Bring the black lancers to the light cavalry.

NOTE: Independence Dragons were awesome in WoL.

In the DE version, I did not find any mod with a decent Brazil, WoL was very well done.

Bro dunno how to explain this, but WoL is a full conversion mod.

I can’t just “make the same civ but in DE”, it just wouldn’t make sense no matter how you cut it. Not even the unit counter system is the same.

I understand, but you could take it as a basis or example, and create or add Brazil to your mod as another civilization. or take Portugal as a base and copy the data and edit the Infantry and cavalry units and make other modifications.

I completely understand @HoopThrower . Modding is not that easy as many people think. When you want to develop a mod which provides some added value and is fun to play, you need to be creative. Things are just not working like most of the people think they do. Copypasting seems to look like the easiest option but it’s usually not. Many units or techs are bound to other specific unique units and techs with hardcoded properties. So just cloning existing content is sometimes not even possible technically and such attitude is bringing a very little added value. There are many creepy dirty mods which are only cloning or - even worse! - rewriting existing content and only change name or flag from Germany to Austria and so on…

World Expo team doesn’t work that way and I’m happy there are mods like this one which are really improving the game and bringing a high quality and a real added value. I’m more than sure when these guys decide to add Brazil the result will be amazing. It just can’t be done overnight of course. So just be patient.

If your idea of Brazil is just “grab the portuguese civ and change it a bit.” Just, like, I dunno, do it yourself. Or play the Fully Playable Revolutions Brazil which actually had a lot more effort than doing that put into it.

Honestly, it’s kinda insulting that you couldn’t appreciate that mod and then come to me requesting a no effort mod. You clearly have zero interest into actually contributing anything to creating a Brazil civ so maybe don’t waste people’s time by complaining while you’re at it?

I remember the first time I made some requests for a mod and it went even worse than this is going @Sr.Franco.

Don’t get me wrong @HoopThrower, maybe I was unkind in my words, but it wasn’t my intention to insult you, quite the opposite, I respect and admire everyone’s work, if you felt insulted I apologize!

My intention was just to have my country as a playable and independent metropolis, outside of the revolution.

Your work is amazing, incredible! That’s why I came here to the forum to ask for an independent Brazilian metropolis like the other countries.

I’m Brazilian, so maybe I can’t express myself the way I really want to… I don’t know English very well.

Unfortunately, I don’t know how to make mods, I even tried but the whole game bugged and I had to reinstall… so I came here to ask someone who knows how to do it.

Like the Brazilian, if you need ideas for cards, age advancements, military forces or dice I’m available to help.

Hello, sorry for butting in.

If you’re interested in seeing Brazil added to the game, there’s a mod that takes all the revolutions and turns them into playable civilizations. It’s called Fully Playable Revolutions and is currently the only mod that brings Brazil as a playable civilization. I think this might help you shorten the wait for a modder to bring it as something of higher quality.

I recommend being patient, since the “leader” of the Age of the World project theoretically plans to eventually add Latin American civilizations, and I seem to recall Brazil is one of the favorites, so it will be added at some point.

Alternatively, I seem to recall that part of the team behind this mod (World Expo) wants to add more civilizations, which I believe also includes Brazil, but for obvious reasons, they need to first finish what they’ve already started and receive support to expand the project.

My personal advice is to wait for Age of the World to make the Brazilian civilization and use the Fully Playable Revolutions mod to make the wait easier.
