Im surprised but happy theyre not included japan or korea for marketing.
Rus theme similar at vikings sure.
But where are byzantins?
DLC’s
Byzantins, Persians, Turks
Aztecs, Spanish, Incas.
Vikings/norses, celts/irish/scotish
Japanese, Koreans
Romans and persian elephants, drakkars and turtle ships, berserkers, samurais, ninjas, conquerors and jaguar/eagle warriors are really nice for sell them separate…
In the fan preview announcement video we can see in the tournament video that the blue units are french because of the “fleur de lis” in the back of the spearmen and in the swordsmen shields.
They seem pretty confirmed to me. I even initially thought that the norman conquest campaign was a french one. Maybe it ends up using both civs.
They have been the largest empire the world have ever seen and had a huge impact on the history of the world. The first laws of human rights was written by Cyrus the Great that later laid the foundation for the world. The Parthian empire also introduced the world with horse archer military doctrine and the technic of Parthian Shoot. Parthia also introduced Cataphracts which latter inspired the western knights.
Thus, The Persian dynasties has always been a very cavalry heavy nation. Consisting of heavy cavalry and horse archers
Ones that need to be added in the future through DLCs if not in base game(not all of course but this is a list)
Japanese
Koreans
Vikings
Incas
Mayans
Ethiopians
Malians
Berbers
Spanish
France
HRE
Italians(would have a Dynasty system similar to Chinese except they are called Republics)
Khmer
Malays
Rajputs
Sikhs
Bulgarians
Byzantines
Kievan Rus
I’m sure there’s more
Guys they don’t necessarily have to add a viking or french civ; They may create special Gaïa unit like the norse and middle eastern swordsmen in AOE2’s editor mode.
I do think they will add the French but nothing is certain yet.
If the Rus leak is accurate, it’s surprising (to me) how heavily the developers are borrowing from past games’ civilization bonuses. Consider,
Double health palisades (Cumans in AOE2, Rus in AOE4)
Building that collects resources (Swedish torps in AOE3, Rus hunting cabins in AOE4)
Early access to heavy cavalry unit (Burgundians in AOE2, Rus in AOE4)
Gold generating farms (Burgundians in AOE2, English in AOE4)
Foot soldiers that construct buildings (Sicilians in AOE2, Delhi Sultanate in AOE4)
In particular, it’s interesting that so many of the borrowed ideas are coming from recently-added civilizations. Maybe the DLC and AOE4 conversations are taking place in the same room? Personally, I hope that the new civilizations have many unique features that we have not seen before, and I’m not sure how I feel about this trend I noticed.
i would say the quite opposite of that and say the recent civs are borrowing from aoe4 since don’t forget aoe4 have been in development since a long time and the (swedish, burgundians, sicilians.) are very recent like the swedish are around 15 Oct, 2020 while lord of the west civ are around 26 January, 2021
Yup, I mostly play AOE2, so you guys will likely catch more than me. That’s a good point, though @Ziad5241 . I had forgotten how long AOE4 has been in development.
Do not discuss potential leaked content. If you share leaked content you may be removed from the insider program. Please continue speculating on the remaining four release civilizations to be announced for Age of Empires IV.
