Both used melee elephants. That’s why I added Battle Elephants to Persians. Maybe give them (Persian ones) extra attack speed.

It fits really well for them.
But persians already have Melee elephants. They train them from castles and NOT from their stables, because in history, they never trained their own elephants at their stables. They got them from royal trade, represented by training at castles only.
I believe in the power of simplicity, and so should you:
Giving BE to Indians as they are, keeping everything else pure and untouched.
This is unlikely to hurt any section of the community

Still, Ele Archer, being a really bad UU, cannot be used for a strong civ that already has a perfect UU

I agree Persians Chinese and Ethiopians used Elephants as well but that doesn’t mean they should get Battle Elephants. Because they used it on a very small scale.

Please. This is Age of Empires, not a Total War game. Historical accuracy is nice but to a certain degree it has to be sacrificed for gameplay and balance.

They lack Heavy Cavalry because of the massive Villager Boom, not Imperial Camels.
Imperial Camels are a compensatory feature to Indians.
To give Indians Battle Elephants, you would have to nerf their Barracks, Archery Range, Docks, Monastery and Siege Workshop to the ground, until they have only base options and no upgrades.
Aswaran were the cataphracts.

What part of royal trade did you not understand? Mercenaries were always got via ROYAL DECREE. Royal decrees were from the SEAT of the ruler, which is represented by the CASTLE.
Now, let us get back to fruitful conservation on actually fixing the main problem, bad civ design of the Indians.

But some forget that changing the UU of a civ this can drastically change the popularity of that civ for many players.

Also why do you think Indian Dock is strong, it is one of the Worst with no shipwright no fast fire ship.

There is already a civ exactly like you described :the KHMER. They have faster farming even after the nerf AND have 15% faster elephants with extra attack in Imp. They are better than Indians in ‘Fram Boom’. 11
