In traditional Chinese artistic creations and folk tales about General Yue Fei of Song Dynasty, Prince Wuzhu of Jin Jurchens is often the villain and his great rival. I think if we have Yue Fei’s story as the Chinese campaign (which is actually what I’m looking forward to), then having Wuzhu become the Jurchen campaign would be a great choice, hopefully creating something similar to the echo between the Polish campaign and the Lithuanian campaign.
The Tanguts’ UU in Castles could be most likely a camel catapult unit called Poxi (潑喜). The Poxi Army was a small but elite force composed of about two hundred to three hundred men. they installed catapults on the back of bactrian camels (larger than dromedary ones) and launched a rain of stone projectiles at the Chinese army.
That’s pretty much the most unique thing about the Tangut military as far as I know, giving the game another cavalry + siege weapon unit after the Ballista Elephant. It would be fun to have camel catapults and their infantry collaborate with each other.
Regarding the regional unit, the Fire Lancer, as the previous unit of the Hand Cannoneer, can well reflect the development of gunpowder in East Asia. I think it is more likely to be adopted as a regional unit, and its significance of representing East Asian gunpowder makes it cover the grenadier as well.
The Fire Lancer can be shared by at least the Chinese, Jurchens, Koreans, and Mongols, while the Khitans and Tanguts may also share them.
Well we don’t have an East Asian civ with an infantry focus, so that has potential.
Absolutely. The Tibetans should also be a civ with a good infantry bonus if they are introduced. In fact, Chinese generals who fought against them spoke highly of the heavy armoured infantry of Tibetans.
Tibetans and Tanguts, both Qiang peoples, had excellent infantry because they were located in mountainous areas. So was Georgians supposed to be, but that is another topic…
some guys from the community like RobbyLAVA showing that there still room for few civs on the unique bonis front.
Here are my two cents.
If interested, you are welcome to check the DLC concepts I have posted about Central Asia and East Asia.
Although I hadn’t included the Tanguts there.
Hi. This topic compiles my latest (FEB.2024) concepts of 5 potential Central/East Asian steppe civs. Central Asia DLC: Tibetans/Qiangs Gokturks Sogdians East Asia DLC: Khitans Jurchens Chinese (campaign only) I deliberately do not explain the stats of UUs, the cost of UTs and the complete technology tree, because I think these details do not really affect the concept and can be adjusted at will according to the focus of the concept. None of them have Paladins, and all have Elite Steppe …
Hello everyone, this topic is going to assume that a DLC will introduce campaigns for these two civilizations, and also introduce some East Asian-focused Historical Scenarios. Many of them come from my replies in other threads. I sorted them out and added some new stuff. This works in the same universe as my Central and East Asia DLC concepts, which means I would assume that some new civilizations and campaigns for them will have already been introduced, including the Gokturks, Sogdians, Tibet…
I also have a post about the concept of African DLC, you can find it out if interested.
