I assumed it was deliberate and you’d judged free Bracer to be too powerful. I agree that free Thumb Ring is better for Parthians.
I don’t think free Bracer is too powerful considering they already have the other two upgrades for free, although I can see how you could easily reach that assumption.
The faster working miners and free archer upgrades may be a bit too oppressive. Not completely sure tbh but it sounds damgerous
I think we probably need to see how it plays out first, it’ll be a while before they are added anyway probably, I’ll address it if I think it does prove too strong by that point, or once they are released.
The free techs are basically a free blacksmith + very early powerspike + Ethiopian age up bonus, and the faster miners will help you have a decent mass of them
Im not completely sure if it will be OP but it will be way stronger than Ethiopians
You do have to remember though, I’ve designed these civs in a vacuum. They aren’t meant to be played with, against, or even in the same set as any of the regular civs, so the balance is a bit different, because they are designed to be played with each other, rather than with the regular game. Anyway, if it is OP, it can always be finetuned. I do want to keep the free techs though, because it’s a really good bonus for both archers and navy.

wow that looks amazing
Seems that this could be expanded into a remake version of AoE I, or AoE 1.5. More civs of the 500 BC - 476 AD period may be added.
Yep, I already made the AoE 1.5 joke as something we could do on the loading screen. There is a definite element of truth to it though.
Can include not only European and Mediterranean ancient civs.
This is because I wish that 1.5 game existed!!! Give me all the beauty and game mechanics of AoE 2 DE but set in Antiquity. Essentially Rome Total War Period but as AoE game.
I wish the Developers would see this, get it to the right people at Microsoft looking for their next game idea and say hey I think we could do this! Lol. Not a 3D model game, 2D sprites too, love the graphics and feel of the series.
Sorry latest AoE entry doesn’t do it for me…. I feel like it lost its graphical quality and grit of AoE 1 and 2
age 1 and 1.5 sounds good
its sad whats happening to aoe1 they arent updating it at all, seems like its a clear message that they are discontinuing support for good. on the other hand thank god AOE2 getting new dlc and new features, along with mod support improvement.
a giant mod aoe1DE port to aoe2DE is nice, we just now need all the AOE1DE players come play this mod, of course in AOE2DE.
Needs more civs implemented, and a lot more bugs fixed first. I also want a reasonable campaign set.
I kind of like this idea, but at the same time, I feel like it would invalidate all our work if they then take over.
thats always the feelings of modders, just part of modding life
hoping players from AOE1DE will come join and support this mod.
I think you’re sales pitching too early. I planned out 23 civs for the first wave, but it will take months to get them all, as well as resolving the bugs. If we want to pitch to the AoE1 community, we probably want at least 15 custom civs, and at least 1 campaign, which I’m working on already, with another 2 hopefully planned after I finish.
support takes time it should be fine. also this is for players whos into mod and single players. I doubt any competitive multiplayer players would care
Single players are often interested in campaigns. If only AI wasn’t a thing…
I’ve just thought about how I haven’t actually posted any campaign map previews on here. These are just previews for the first 3 maps, I’m working on the 4th out of 6 right now. The campaign is an expanded and improved recreation of AoE1’s Ave Caesar, rebuilt using the mod and lots of time. Here are the maps for levels 1-3.
