Not in AoE 2 as far as I know, yes in AoE 3…
AoE 3 has it and I haven’t seen anyone put their hands to their heads xd…
Stop triple posting. Then with AoE3, if you want it, you make it. AoE3 is supported, and neither me nor @rjgt3838 are fans of it anyway. I also think you don’t realize how much effort and maintenance R@W requires. In terms of expanding area, A) it’s a bad mechanic, and not worth including, and B) It’s not remotely possible in the engine.

It is more comfortable for me to answer like this, if not later I get lost with the answers xd
-
I would, but I can hardly adapt the campaigns of aoe 3 in aoe 2 and I did not finish even the first, much less make a mod of this caliber xd
-
Maybe you are right, but ES did it like this so as not to abuse putting your buildings so close to those of your enemies, otherwise the games would end as soon as they start xd…
You could just edit a post.
If you can’t, you need to find someone else, because we aren’t doing it. It’s also a pointless project, because you aren’t doing anything that’s really original, AoE3 works fine.
I am right that it’s not possible in the AoE2 DE editor. It’s a mechanic AoE3 might need, but not one that benefits AoE2, or anything built in the AoE2 engine.
I said it because I read that the players of aoe 2 do not get used to the mechanics of aoe 3 (in addition to the limit of buildings of this), then they do put civs and period of aoe 1 in aoe 2, why not do the same but with aoe 3, then the players of aoe 2 are encouraged to try it at least “indirectly” so to speak …
I think the reason they don’t get used to it is because they don’t like it. AoE1 mechanics are similar in concept to AoE2, but AoE3 is very different. It’s something quite different, it doesn’t have to be adapted.
Release is published, first patch already issued to correct bug with Hippodrome.
However, the work goes on! We have new work in progress shots for new Macedonian unit silver shields!
The unit lacks player color, so looking to add in more on body armor like below reference image. This unit concept is brought to you by @TheConqueror753 and the graphics by Sapsan. Pretty cool unit!
This mod is ■■■■■■■ awesome!!! If the “ancient friends” from the roadmap weren’t a big addition with ancient civilizations, like in this mod, it would be a real shame!
I think this dev support mod could sit well between AOE 1 and AOE 2. I’m a big fan of AOE 2 and would love to see a big addition (perhaps it could be run with an alternate icon and main menu - don’t bother in the main game)
Thank you for the kind works and support! Couldn’t agree more strongly. I hoped this concept would encourage the devs and community at large to get behind a AOE 1 themed game either as a special DLC or just a port to new game engine so development could continue at faster pace than it has. It is one of the main reasons I started the project.
I always thought of it as a sort of prototype to show what could be done for the period in the AOE 2 engine.
I perceive that as the potential loss of control over the mod, and I’m highly doubtful the devs would give any form of credit. I’m strongly opposed to the idea of them taking hours of work from the R@W team, and claiming it as their own. I also don’t want to lose control of the civ balance, because I know how ineffective the devs are when it comes to balancing.
I see the Devs as modders themselves, passionate about the product they produce and likely constrained by mechanizations of a large studio/company that sees everything as $ next quarter or year.
As a fellow modder, we do the heavy lift and attract the attention of investors and yesterdays nay sayers, so the idea that others once thought crazy, becomes obvious.
That may be, but it doesn’t change the fact that we almost certainly wouldn’t be credited, and we wouldn’t have control over the product anymore, which is what concerns me.
Something tells we would not stop creating even they took every idea in this mod as their own. Also, I know who deserves credit for Dynasties of India, just like I know who deserves credit for AoE 2 DE. Modders!
Mods are where you explore, innovate, and produce exciting new content. The studios can’t keep up with the pace at which a healthy community can creatively produce.
Yes good point… same in moddb I saw one who had tried to adapt aoe 3 in the aoe 2 HD and the truth looked interesting, it was called aoe 2: the next chapter and knew how to adapt very well aoe 3 in aoe 2…
This is a total conversion mod for Age of Empires 2 HD Edition, which takes place in the colonial era. This is not an Age of Empires 3 remake, nor is it simply Age of Empires 2 set in the colonial era. There are new units, buildings, techs, and features which help it better fit into the colonial era.
ModDB Page:
It is for the HD version.
There are 18 Civilizations in total and their building sets are as follows:
European:
British
French
Germans
Dutch
Canada
13 Colonies
Swedish
Eastern European
Russian
Polish
Latin:
Spanish
Portuguese
Native American:
Plains Natives Building Set
-Lakota
-Commanche
Forest Natives Building Set
-Cherokee
-Cree
-Iroquois
Meso:
Aztec
Mayan
In the Independance Age, the North American Colonies, Britan and france, and the Dutch, Germans, and Swedes recieve a more specialized set respectively.
The new Ages are:
The Exploration Age - 1492 - 1560
Represents the age of exploration, including famous explorers, and trade with Native populations
The Colonial Age - 1561 - 1699
The age when colonizing of the New World began
Fortress Age - 1700 - 1769
The age when world powers began fighting for control in the New World
Independence Age - 1770 - 1850
Represents events such as the American Revolution, and the War of 1812, when Nations became separate from European Empires. Also represents the era of Napoleon.
Some Key Changes:
All European and American Civilizations start with an explorer unit similar to the one in Age of Empires 3. All Native American Civilizations begin with a similar, Chief, unit.
The Native Embassy is the first buildable military building, replacing the barracks, and trains Native military units.
Exploration Age Buildings for the Europeans:
European Infantry Line
Native Infantry Line
@MatM1996 I appreciate your passion and enthusiasm for your ideas, but this has strayed too far off topic for this particular forum topic. We want this forum to stick to all things Romae ad Bellum and any possibly projects that preceded it related to AoE time period that are now inactive.
Your ideas are venturing into AOE 3, and while interesting, it needs its own space to be discussed further elsewhere. I suggest you make your own topic.
yep. in MS’s TOS all mods uploaded belongs to microsoft. can’t recall where I read that but thats what I recalled
Yeah I read that somewhere too and shared it with @TheConqueror753 before.
Sounds like typical boiler plate legal language to protect MS and give them max flexibility and legal protection should they decide to pursue similar concepts.
Doubtful they would allow their game to be openly modded, and content hosted on their servers if they didn’t have that language.
Nothing is ever free…
Still frustrates me, the idea that they can take our work with no credit. Although anyone who has played R@W might know that we actually did it, the thousands of other people who haven’t will probably just assume the devs did it.
No way they could take all your work, you crank out civs like a machine!! More likely they should hire us lol
If anything a few pieces here and there potentially could be incorporated in official content. In that case it’s more like a professional acknowledgment we did something cool.
