[Vote] Dawn of the Dukes most anticipate civs

I want a constructive discussion here, but I’m not going to llie and say I love this third European expansion in a row, give me a break. Even all the past ones (with the exception of ROR) had at least 1 European civs to accompany it. Europe is not the center of the Medieval world. I actually don’t want centers, I want variety, and I’m sorry to say that but the last DLC didn’t do much on that regard.

Inb4 this thread goes to hell too.

Maybe you should be more relaxed and not write into every thread how you are against Poles or any additional European expansions. I think your opinion is well known

Not entirely true, everyone who plays with Dutch in AoE3 eventually “revolutionizes” into SA, many times you go Peru or Brazil with Portuguese, Argentina is also used a lot by Spanish players, etc.

Is the number of civs in this DLC confirmed?

Are these two civs just guesses?

Due to the fact that Czechs and Poles are the most possible civs, he will vote for the others.

Of the civilizations listed in the vote, I would choose all, except the Albanians - they were never influential and were not even a regional power. They were part of the Serbian, Bulgarian, Byzantine and Ottoman empires.
In their place, Romanians would be a better option.

i agree .best possible outcomes

For me it is unfair that I can only choose two civs, even though it is unknown how many civs will contain DLC. I don’t want a DLC with two civs as that could mean a small DLC policy with little content. I hope DotD will contain at least 4 civs.

yup poland czecha serbia georgia or romania or armania

Disregarding what I think about DotD, I think those small expansions are a bad deal. In the past, you had 4 new civs, one new architecture for 10 bucks, now you get less content for more money.

I really want DotD to feature a new architecture set, and it doesn’t even have to be for the new civs. Imagine if it would come with a Byzantine or Viking architecture set, that would be great.

I liked the variety in these older DLCs - we got a little bit from every part of the world, everyone was satisfied.

The first DLC focused on a specific region was Rise of the Rajas - from this point on, the DLC started to focus on specific regions / cultures.
For this reason, Western European and Eastern European DLCs should not cause irritation or amazement.
Rise of the Rajas focused on Southeast Asia, the Last Khan on the Turkic peoples (Bulgarians are the Turks who mixed with the Slavs and Thracians) + Lithuanians, while the Lords of the West focused on Western Europe. Since there is Eastern Europe now, it is logical that the next DLC will concern a different region of the world. I bet on the African DLC.

I hope DotD will add at least 4 new civs to us. If it’s only 2 civs, it could already mean the era of small DLCs (2 civs and 2-3 campaigns) and they would be expensive. Besides, other games in the series could have the same DLC policy. African DLC is heading to AoE 3, probably better if there are more civs than just Ethiopians and Hausa? So I hope that all AoE games will receive solid and well-made DLCs.

I hope that these DLC will receive 4-5 civs (Poles, Czechs, Serbs, Croats and Finns) and campaigns for these civs. New architecture style - Northern European for Rus (currently Slavs), Vikings and Finns.
The next DLC (I do not write that it must be after DotD!) could focus on the Black Sea region - Georgians, Armenians, Romanians and Khazars. New architecture style - Byzantine / or Black Sea for Byzantines, Bulgarians, Georgians and Armenians.

Other DLCs could be:

  1. Highly Developed American Civs DLC - Misippians and Muisca
  2. India DLC - Bengalis, Afghans, Dravidians, and Punjabians
  3. Asian Forgotten Empires DLC - Siamese and Tibetans
  4. African Powers DLC - Congolese, Zimbabweans, Somalis, Mamelukes and Kanem-Bornu
  5. Central European DLC - Aragonese, Venetians, Bavarians (southern Germans)
  6. Natives of the Americas DLC - 2 civs that would have 3 UU each and would represent to a large extent the Indians of North America, and the other civ from South America.
  7. Forgotten Regions DLC - Inuit and Polynesians

Unfortunately, it was very difficult for me to fit into the “50 civs limit”. That’s why I replaced as many as 32 civs. A total of 69 civs - no associations  The symbolism of this number means that opposites attract and complement each other. So I guess it fits AoE 2.

To facilitate the selection of civs for the game, all civs could be regrouped into four subcategories - Asian civs, African civs, American civs and European civs. This way, the player would choose a region that interests him before choosing a civ to play.

Bulgarians are Slavs first

I hope not unless it includes Cucassian civs.

Theres not place for two more European DLCs with 4 civs each rn. Leave them for much later after the rest of the world get a decent representation

Neither Croats or Vlachs.

What?

Already the Italians

With these DLCs, new architectural styles would join:

  1. Andean - Incas and Muisca
  2. Native American - Misissippian, Inuits, North American native civ and South American native civ
  3. Indian - Bengalis, Afghans, Dravidians, Punjabians, and Mughals (current Indians)
  4. 1-2 new African styles
  5. Oceanic - Polynesians and Malay

Just realized with your ideas for DLCs we get 11 more Europeans civs which would be the same ammount as Africa and Asia get togheter in your plans

Thats just ridiculously unfair for the rest of the world

Not sure about Croats being that insignificant even if I think they dont have much priority at all.

Anyway, Mamelukes are Egyptians basically

Croats were conquered by Hungary in the 11th century.

I never said they werent. They are almost pointless dont get mre wrong, but they had some influence

Where are the Jurchen, Khitans, Tanguts, Nanzho, Nubians, Oriyas, Songhai and Swahili?

All of them were more significant in the Middle Ages than small remaining European duchies.

Why do you want Kannadiga and Tamils (both different big empires with different military) together if you propose 5 Slavic and 5 Germanic duchies?

Also Nubians

Even Beninese/Yoruba are better than Finns, Croats or Vlachs

The Croats created the powerful Dubrovnik Republic that competed with the Venetians. Could be civ focused on navy and trade. The Croats were presented very nicely in the mod Tomislav campaign.

Romanians (Wallachians, Moldovans and Transylvanians) were divided into three principalities that were very important in the history of Europe. They were for many years the bulwark of Europe. Besides, they already have their own campaigns in this game, even though they aren’t - a paradox, right?

Sorry for the typos:

Punjabis

Mississippian

Mamluk

Lots of people want to see the Venetians.

For all the people talking about adding the Inuit… do you guys know that they didn’t/don’t know live in regions where trees grow, and so they don’t use wood? So their only buildings are houses made of snow?

Don’t get me wrong, this is pretty impressive and their culture definitely has the potential to be showcased in a videogame, but I think it would be way too much of a stretch to add them into AOE2. Like would they have snow towncenters, snow castles, snow siege workshops? And snow siege weapons while we’re at it?

Then there’s also the fact that they don’t, and can’t, use agriculture…

I think it would be somewhat disrespectful to their culture to distort it so much just in order to include them in this game, though I’m not Inuk myself so can’t speak on their behalf.

If anything, AOE3 would be a better fit for them, in terms of both timeline and theme. They could definitely be added as an additional support tribe, and even potentially as a playable civ, since AOE3 provides more flexibility in terms of tech trees.
