Vote for the next 4 civs you want in the game

For my part, I believe that there are few opportunities for us to obtain civilizations from the American continent.

And yet nobody questions having the English in a game set in the middle ages.

4 I voted for are in the top 5. Why cant they drop a couple new civs every 6 months?

Why isn’t there a Majapahit vote, in my opinion the history is good

You’re absolutely right.
In an ideal world, they would work on both the new flashy civs AND the foundational improvements and missing QoL features in parallel.
Specially I agree that they should revamp models, animations, buildings, improve the biomes and add more diverse hunt, flashier effects like dust and cannons, flashier naval combat, etc.

Agreed. There’s so much that could be done to add some nice variety, polish, life, flash, beauty, and the like. More biomes, effects, weather, time of day changes, animals/insects, refined animations, etc. Just examples there, but the sky is the limit. If devs fear most of this stuff would be too taxing for PCs during ranked matches, then at least give it to those of us who don’t play or care about ranked.

How have they not teased more civs yet?

False, those 100 European soldiers were joined by thousands of Native Warriors who wanted to destroy the Aztecs.

They had many of the same technologies as Europe its a myth that they lacked many. They also had aqaducts, calanders to name a few. That they didnt have gunpowder is not a justification to say they lack technology on the whole

While technically not a kingdom, the Mapuche also fought the Spanish for centuries, even making a peace deal which recognized their sovereignthy.

Lol, lmao even.
Agree. But market sales drove the first civ choices.

I really think Japan and Norsemen (Vikings) should be the next ones.

Samurai, Ninja and Daimio should be nice options of unique units for Japan. And for the Norsemen (Vikings), the Berserker, Huskarl and the Jarl.

Japan, vikings and aztecs (there should be definetly japan and aztecs)

Why dont they give me Japan this summer

Did you already finish the andaluz and morocco concept?

Well, how to say it, the concepts of Morocco and Al-Andaluz are at 80%. Unique Units, Landmarks, and Bonuses are there, but I had a creative block because I couldn’t come up with extra unique technologies, one marine bonus and one marine technology, and the area of influence hasn’t decided well yet.

On the other hand, I got VERY excited to write a model for Aztecs and Incas, and I think I’m going to release the Aztec first. I do this because I realized that it is very likely that they will release a new civilization for season 6, if not for season 7, and both the Aztec and the Inca would have such different mechanics from the Classic, that it is better to release this model before others. Due to this, I have been playing a lot of Mods and video games related to city building but with the Aztec Civ to get enough inspiration, among them “Theocracy” and Empires Apart, as well as the Mod "Return of the Gods" and “Aztec Mod” for Age of Mythology Extended Edition. In all of them it became clear to me that it is very important to include aspects of the Aztec religion and the worship of their gods as game mechanics, otherwise it would be discarding a lot of its essence. Of course, some aspects to highlight from the games I played:

  • Theocracy: Aztecs have Llamas and Ballistas, there are jaguar tamers instead of jaguar warriors, and many priests have magical powers and refer to unreal gods. There aren’t Cuachic, Eagle Warriors or Otomies. However, the game is presented in a hypothetical scheme of some Nahua people defeating the Spanish, so it is forgiven since it is a “What if” instead of a 100% faithful historical representation of the Aztecs.

  • Empires Apart: In addition to bugs in skirmishes, take enough captures to rescue the convenient. Aztec model replaces military and economic technologies with religious technologies to various gods, you can capture enemies. While almost all Civs have units named after them in their original language and the closest transliteration into other languages, and there are many unique units, the game lacks “unique technologies”, and mechanics beyond the basics are few.

  • Return of the God: I love it and it will be one of the main sources of inspiration. There are Short Ones and Otomi Warriors and even Coyote Priest. He has the enemy capture and sacrifice mechanic I was looking for. I love the design of the Calmecac and the Aztec Ariete.

  • Aztec Mod_ by Alan Wake: I love it and it’s going to be the 2nd main source of inspiration. Unfortunately there are no Short Ones or Otomi Warriors. It has an alternate version of the enemy capture and sacrifice mechanic I was looking for. His Cipactli Titan model is the one I like the most. Some of the unique tech and mythological units of each sub-god I like better than RotG.

Finally, I am considering making a guide on how to make concepts “more stable”, following several important points, and so that one does not feel that they are incomplete, I am going to publish it as a topic in the forum, I think today.

For real, the game has more than enough civs by now.
The balancing (especially in team games) is already completely out of place.

No a co my s tĂm jako?

Its just AoE and history fans all want are favorite civs to be represented in the game. The new variant civs didn’t add much in that regard and most of them seem op.
