To be honest there is not much left I am missing in aoe2. I mostly want chronicles to explore the time before the fall of Rome with all Rome at war mod civs. I even want to go earlier with Egyptians Assyrians and Babylonians.

For the mainline aoe2 I am missing a lot of African Civs. (Kanemburu, Songhai, hausa, Kongo, somalia, Zimbabwe) 2 to 3 DLCs could make the continent complete. We also need giraffes, hippos, hyenas and some other African animals. I think this would add the most to the diversity of the game.

In Europe I would like croats, Serbian and vallachs, but it’s not a must.

In Asia I know we won’t get Tibet so thais are the only civ I would miss. Mostly because I want to see a bombard cannon elephant.

Noth American with Iroquois and Mississippiand would complete the Americas. We could also get a caribou, Buffalo and cougar as new animals.

I don’t think Australian or Polynesian Civs would work, but I would appreciate kangaroos, dingos and cassowary for the Australia real world map and as a new biome for other maps.

The middle east or a saracen split would not be interesting for me personally.

omg so many people craving africa rn.

All of them are valid options tbh (except romans).

But I also have to say… africa is one that has been overseen for too long imo. I really think it’s time.

How DARE you insult the Parthian Empire!

Nooooo
I would never.
Whoever knows what happened to Crassus would never do that!!!1111eleven

(PS: just noticed the proposal is for Chronicles. I don’t really care about that, so I wouldn’t also be against it)

Africa and Balkans…Even Asia again or Americas as long as we don’t continue the splitslop after Viking Sagas since this trend is just too boring while neglecting non-split options.

Rome for Chronicles overrated, Diadochi or anything else would be better since there are a lot of options to explore instead of jumping straight into Rome.

Is this vote for most likely next DLC or one you want the most? I voted for the Roman chronicle because I think that is probably the next to release (unless Chronicles has outright been canceled).

Added.

The one that you would like the most. This is to let the devs know what’s the most popular/wanted. I’ll edit the post to clarify.

I’d love to see the Dutch. They can build on water, have extra powerful mills and tulip farms!

But seriously, more Africans would be great. I did an African History course in college, that was very interesting. I’d love to see the people from the Swahili coast as a civilization.

More Africans and more Native Americans.

I voted for a roman Chronicles, this was that we expected for the second part of 2026. (Roman + Carthaginian + Pyrrhic wars)

So many good options after and I voted for Africa because there so many thing to ad on this continent, no DLC here since 2015, it’s like the inca who were added in 2023 and waited until 2026 to have new content for South America.

I voted for Africa. However which part of Africa? Horn of Africa, West or South Africa or just Africa? I think at least 3 DLC and 9-10 civs are needed for covering Africa.

Yes, multiple DLCs might be required for full coverage, but the option just means any of them. I don’t know enough about it to list all 9 or 10 civs.

I list 7 possible civs from the south and east here: [Just for fun] Civs you'd like to see (but probably won't) - #4 by smiki5five

West Africa and the Sahel could easily provide another 7, if not more.

as a dutchie i dislike this. we already have burgundians, and we now also have saxons. we’re already covered in both.

The word at least is doing heavy lifting.

Civs people probably commonly forget to name:

Malagasy, Mossi, Jolof, Mbundu, Oyo, Efi, Beninese, Dagomba

So which of those civs is fitting for the life of Pierre Gerlofs Donia the most fitting campaign I can think of? Neither civ is naval or has enough Hulk bonuses to be legit and lack certain Dutch/Frisian/Flemish special units like the Beguine

I guess a separate Frisian civ could also serve as a stand-in for Saxons and the Hanseatic League of High Middle Ages, given that the devs judged the Hearthweru (I refuse to call it “Hearth Troop”) to be too anachronistic for Henry the Lion. (Not that it’d be weirder than Joan with Throwing Axemen…)

Saxons are Germans and British Isle migrants, the lowlands is a whole country away

And the only reason I’d even want the civ is for some Flemish Militia regionalization

Mind the fact this predates the MXBow but this design doesn’t seem like it mirrors either Sax or Burgs

If were to readjust it I’d make the Hobseclarone bonus more simple and remove the anti spear immunity.

Units when applicable: Become so intimidating that units receive -5 anti infantry damage, -7 anti cavalry, -3 anti archer damage and -12 anti-siege damage

Here’s my two cents:

A Balkan expansion that covers the events before and after the Fall of Constantinople should be done at some point. It makes a ton of thematic sense that the video game that chronologically began with the fall of Western Rome should also cover the fall of Eastern Rome. I also always felt it odd that Vlad Dracula commands medieval East Slavs in his campaign rather than Vlachs/Romanians.

I personally think the Mountain Royals to have already been the Middle Eastern DLC, but I understand that some people consider Georgia and Armenia to be European Civs which I find confusing from a geographic perspective even nowadays, but especially for the time period that AOE2 covers when the Cumans, Turks and Huns are all geographically located closer to Europe and nobody considers them to be European Civs for obvious reasons. I think the Alans being like medieval Scythians/Sarmatians would of been a cool addition, but that’s just me and I don’t feel strongly about it personally.

I think a Saracens split is an outright bad idea, it’d likely be super contrived political factions like with the 3 Kingdoms DLC. But at least AOE2 has a sizable Chinese player base so there was some financial sense in it. As far as I’m aware there’s not a similar incentive with the Middle East, and even if there was one. It’d just be a lamer version of the 3Ks DLC.

I don’t feel strongly about an African DLC, But do I think that similarly to the Balkans and South America (Pre-SA DLC) there are some conspicuous absences in the campaigns that could do with a couple new civs. So I think an expansion there makes sense, scenarios about the Rashidun-Makurian war with say a Nubians civ I think would be cool.
