Good luck with this request The community has been asking for this for years (ever since at least the beta and/or tech stress test, as I understand it), so you’re not alone. If you search the forum for zoom #age-of-empires-iv, it’ll give you an idea of the discontent.

I was such a fan of the Age of Empires franchise that I couldn’t wait to see/get AoE4. And then I saw and experienced the zoom level early on, I just couldn’t bring myself around to buy it. Still can’t. It’s probably the #1 or #2 factor driving me away (it’s nearly a tie between that and the ubiquitous gold icons I can’t deal with), and it’s sad. The zoom would be such an easy fix, imo, but after 2 or 3 years or however long it’s been, I stopped holding my breath and I’m just apathetic about the game now. Which is sad, considering it’s one of my favorite franchises.

I have nothing else to say but the fact that relic didn’t give a rat’s ■■■ about the feedback of the community on zoom topic which was by far the most universally agreed thing that needed the most improvement. I don’t want my face pushed against the ground by crappy and technically-challenged developers not being able to figure this out with all the complaints about it. Amatures! Shame on relic. Shame.

Objectivity: Can we get some stats for zoom level used during the beta?

It’s all very well for Devs to say the zoom level is fine and they don’t think it needs changing, but considering the whole community seems to want a “bit of extra zoom out” then maybe we can make this argument more objectively. Zoom is Magic

I’m using Nvidia’s Dynamic Super Resolution to play AoE2 in 3325x1871 (Enhanced Graphics) and have the “Ludicrous Zoom” option checked for AoE3. To me, the extreme zoom abilities really bring the games together. Zoom topic shows how disrespectful the devs are

After open beta, many players, including me, have asked to allow the further zoom level, so they can really choose how they want to play the game. Personally, I wanted to fluently switch between zoom levels, depending on the situation. For example when microing archers and mangonels I’d like to be zoomed in, but when I build walls or assess the map features after scouting, I’d rather zoom out further to be able to perceive more at once.
