Definetly an idea and the solution to elo leverage between 1k and 2k so the 1k gets +18 and the 2k gets +2 seems fair eventho i still think that a) yes family share should be singleplayer and not mp. B) honestly the highest gap for lets say 12xx should be 1400 not 1500 and 1800 should be 2k so its minimalistic only 200 maybe 300 inbetwteen for teams but more importanly for enemys
Your obsession of wanting me to just say ‘it’s a problem’ isn’t looking at the solutions I’ve discussed already which already says that there is one without the need to say something so straightforward.
Again. If family sharing is taken from ranked play - it must be done at the same time as adding unranked lobbies into a ranking system to reduce possible smurfs there lest the lobby system just get worse.(allow fam share in lobbies, but their accounts will still become ranked by the lobby system allowing for better player to player moderation)
Just saying it’s a problem and ‘remove fam share’ as a knee jerk reflex would do much more damage to the playerbase than good.
It will take time to figure out proper fixes that don’t screw everyone over.
The other problem is the opposite of the player spectrum; The player that claims or labels others without really knowing, those who get wrecked and instantly feel like they’ve been smurfed and decide to attempt to get that player banned.
It is detrimental and hurtful to the playerbase to allow this behaviour just because ‘smurf bad’
It is much more efficient to just change the environment in certain ways like with the suggestions I posted a few comments above which brings the game closer to being smurf unfrendly while not hurting players by false accusations and unfair bans or removing a nice feature, being family sharing, or restricting in certain ways without proper consideration as to the effects of said restrictions and without thinking of additional measures that should go to compensate the playerbase.
I’ve been called a smurf before. I have no wish to become banned because some pleb feels falsely cheated out of a proper game.
It also adds too much strain on the devs to review incoming reports of said false claims of smurfing and takes away too much of their time that could be placed towards the game as whole; it’s much better to focus on things that change the environment for the better and focus on the game as a whole rather than waste studio funds/time on individual possible smurfs or even paying someone else to do it which leads into false bans with far too little context only because a player felt cheated or salty without reason beyond ‘got wrecked’
You should avoid discussion with angry people or frustrated, they can’t be reason with, i already gave him 5 solid points of negative impacts and discarded quite easy the pros of removing family share, since the bad behavior comes from people who plays sponsored wwp(chinese team) or streamers, they can just mock on his face and smurf him 1000 times more by buying with other’s money, while real people like you or the ones that uses that feature for secondary accounts(top 200 has like 60% real players the rest are secondary accounts of them, so anyone can get a big idea of how much that feature is used) removing it will impact the activity on a dying game.
Anyway as the game was advertised to be shared among the family, removing that feature is not an option as they could be sued by false advertisement, just to please some angry people.
I also say that 1 vs 1 smurfs are less prevalent because they can be easily confused with another type of player, the quick resign type who simply doesn’t want to play the selected map, and reports of actual smurfing in 1 vs 1 aren’t what I experienced as common, and most of them hang out in unranked lobbies with no ranked rating on their accounts.
It is simple. People want to win but they couldn’t win in public groups, so they went smurfing. People just lacking of the ability to understand each other and this community is getting toxic.
Why people cannot win in public groups ? Being noob can be one reason. Also, there are many people don’t care about winning in ranked games, they just want to have fun and do whatever they want to do. I have experienced many people that resign early and team kill. I saw several people played more than a thousand of games with less than 1k team elo. These people have never bothered to learn anything and they are in ranked games. Oh great, you will get time out if you try to avoid them.
I clearly know that smurfing should not be encouraged, but this game is not encouraging people to get good, be nice, win games,
Improving the friend/clan system will go a long way towards fixing the current communication problem between players outside of a game. Once players are able to communicate more(currently players use 3rd party apps or friend each other on steam) we’ll experience more friends making parties to attempt ranked team games, and that should be encouraged.
Limiting the elo range disparity a player can play with on their team needs to be fine-tuned, and it must never become overly restrictive. 500 elo is a decent middleground, 300 elo is too restrictive on friends wanting to play together - the main problem appears when queueing with someone 1k elo+ below yourself which increases the odds of you single handedly stomping the opposing team.
i have asked you how your suggestions can solve the issue of smurf, but seems you didnt answer my questions:
TG smurfing:
imagine a situation like this:
A team: 4 2000 elo players
B team: 4 2000 elo players with 2 smurfs which they are actually 2500 and above
How your elo difference can handle this kind of unfairness?
And go to extreme, a toxic premade team can make a team of 4 smurfs and enjoying smashing the noobs, they are all starting in same elo and enjoy their fun game, how 's your way prevent this?
1V1 smurfing:
seems you totally avoid on this, or you dont get the what I am talking about on 1v1 smurf?
@RustyCrowHK thats why if its possible we should exclude family share from ranked so family share is possible for sp and lobby games (dunno bout quickplay)
By changing the environment to be less smurf friendly - I’m not sure you’re actually reading/truly listening to the opposing opinions. You seem to be stuck in your own.
I’ve told you exactly how they can help tackle these things, but you’re acting like we’re talking two different languages and ignoring valid points to push your own further.
Please no, I’m playing on a family share account as I originally bought the game on my dad’s account. This would be extremely unfair to the rest of us.
